What time of day

is the best time to feed your corals and what techniques do you use? I notice some corals do not feed as well as some of the others. About the only time my LPS feed are when the lights are off, but all of my fish take the food from them in my tank. I've even fed the fish until they quit full, then fed the coral and the fish still pick... so I don't even spot feed them anymore.

Lets hear some feeding tips.....

Feed at night so corals dont pick one, Two i like to feed roughly 45min-1hr after the lights go out. You can tell when they are ready to be fed all there sweepers or tentacles will be out.

I like to feed Early in the morning ( lights dont come on until 12pm)..Ill Mix up food (mysis, brine, H2o coral live food, rottie, fine chopped sqiud) the night before and soak in fatty acids..Then the next morning ill add some tank water to the mix and suck some up in a turkey baster and feed away..Only do this roughly once a week

My lights are on from 3pm - 11pm. So I feed when I wake up at 5 am for work.

Also what are you trying to feed? Also if there chalices or acans or something to that extent are they small frags one two eye's?

Generally feeding at night is better since the fish will be less likely to bother them. The feeding tentacles are usually out at night also. Like someone else said about an hour after lights out is fine. I have fed during the day but it's a little more difficult since the fish are out and about and the feeders usually aren't out.

Honestly, I really don't spot feed anymore. I just feed my main tank heavy twice a day when the lights are on..My fish really don't let my coral feed on mysis and such. As soon as they see a pipette or turkey baster go in they are all waiting, and the shrimp will sit there on the end of turkey baster ready to eat, so I gave up long ago.....now they just eat whatever they can pull from the water column

Even at night the fish come out. My tang is on patrol 24/7

+1 For spot feeding I use a turkey baster with a 10in extension of rigid airline tubing so I can get to hard to reach areas.

I usually just dip a finger tip in the water, touch some cyclopeez and dip my finger back in the water. Do that once a week or so. Kind of lazy when it comes to feeding my corals.

Once a week I feed then cyclopeeze. I do it in the morning so I now they are in full eating mode.
