I use mini gyre on my 24Gal LPs tank.

I’ve asked hygger about the magnetic and here is the response.

I use them inside the overflow box. But like mentioned above, they do break. So keep caution.

Hygger Lite Wave Maker For 10-50 Gallons Aquarium Adjustable Circulation Pump with Magnetic Base Fish Tank DC Powerhead for Coral Reef and Freshwater Up to 792 GPH

Amazon product

Perfect for my 15G Hello Reef. Has many ways to move water. Has a timed feeding shut down button. Low profile. I like it a lot. The magnet is submerged in the sump. I have the power head on the back wall of the aquarium.

I’ll check this one out. I even thought about upgrading the 130gph return pump to something else and avoid a wavemaker all together but haven’t quite decided yet. I’ll put this one on my list. Any noise?
I have a IM 25g with an MP10 and Nero 3.

I think you should start with a price range, the if noise is a concern, then cables in the tank, and then you’ll narrow it down.

MP10 for no cables in tank, solid flow, controllable, quiet, but pricey

Nero 3 is solid flow, quiet, controllable, good price, but cable in tank

Reefwave 25 - Gyre pump, but lowest setting is probably too much for the 15g

Hygger - I only have experience with the mini, it was a good little pump, but wasn’t as quiet as the above pumps.

Tunze - Great pumps, last forever, cable in the tank, and I’m not sure on their smallest pumps flow rate
Thanks noise is likely my biggest concern but not too worried as it will be in my office. Not too worried about cables, I do prefer cable free but in my larger tanks I use a Nero and Maxspect gyre so both have cables :/. Thanks for all the good options, gonna look over all that are mentioned in this thread and decide. As mentioned above I’d love to just upgrade the return to an axis and not even worry with a wave maker….thinking about that.

Tunze magnets are waterproof.

This is my im 15. The return is a sicci. The 6040 works well. Tunze magnets will work with any powerhead.

The hygger 12 watt works well in my little 13.

On a newer tunze there is no inner magnet. They’re both the same. You can attach the power head to either magnet. So both can be under water.

No noise. It is quite good. I like the 4 wave features.

Would the Nero 3 work in a 6 gallon tank? Do I even need one if I only have a Duncan and a war coral I want to put in there?

The question is how much do you want to pay? AI products and pay top dollar, or other brands that perform equally as well for far less.

The Nero is definitely better made and better materials but AI break too. I just replaced my Orbit 2 with a Jebao gyre because it crapped out but the app is good and having the lights and pumps all available in one app is nice. Just depends on your setup and priorities.

60 cube and I was running 2 Nero 3's until they both rusted and split the motor case. I ran them at the slowest speed and I felt that they were still too much. I purchased a Hygger HG172-6W for around $40 and its great. I also purchased a HG172-12W but it's slightly more powerful than I would like for the slowest speed. These models do not a have a lot of options for controlling them but they are inexpensive and mine are nearly silent.

Thanks all think I’ll try the hygger HG172 6 watt. Go from there. I don’t mind spending on AI products I have several of them however if I can save a couple dimes with something as good or similar for this tank I don’t mind trying that first, it won’t be my showcase tank or I say that heck it might turn out better than my larger tank….lol.

I have had AI and Ecotech. For the price difference and performance my priorities are not forking over exorbitant amounts for equipment.
