Halichoeres iridis, common names SUCK with wrasses IMO.
There’s so many common names for them that when you search it up its not always going to show you the same fish.
Common names for this wrasse include:
- Radiant Wrasse
- Multicolour Wrasse
- Orange Head Wrasse
- Radiant African Wrasse

Yours seems to be a juvenile, any white light photos? I love the juvenile and female colouration (Plan to maybe try pair mine up with a juvenile). Here’s a more recent photo of my adult female Iridis:

Thank you. It is a juvenile. Such a beautiful fish. Wish he stayed that way. I will try to post a white light photo. Hopefully he doesn’t go sand diving

The males are just as beautiful. They retain the same colors but get a prettier head. I have a spawning pair.

Worth noting they don’t really pair though… can all often turn male and then fight. For now mine remain male and female though.

I figured since they can be bad shippers that one would die but both lived sooo I have two for now. Until they both turn male and it becomes a blood bath anywho.

That’s interesting, I know all Halichoeres tend to become males but for some reason my female iridis isn’t transitioning but I’d assume that’s due to the Jade already being the dominant one.

Fingers crossed, also you have a female, all wrasses start out female. The only difference between this wrasses female colouration and juvenile colours are the dorsal spots. I find they start to vanish, also Tamberav I’d love to see photos of your male, I think I’ve seen one male but I’m not too sure anymore.

I miss the juvenile colours, making me REALLY want to grab a juvenile again and grow it up and hope to try a pairing, yeah the black spots do get smaller when the female colouration appears but also the face gains some beautiful green lines on it so it gets slightly prettier.
