I just noticed this, frilly for lack of a better word thing on my candy cane. They've been in the tank since last week. They were aquacultured and the company said they were clean and shouldn't need dipped so I didn't and now I'm worried that was a mistake...

ALWAYS dip. If a person has a coral, they have bugs. Never listen to "shouldn't need to be dipped" because that is not the sign of a good coral producer/seller.
However, I am nor sure what you mean by "frilly" thing. I do see the corals tenticals, if that's what you mean. If you do... then that's just part of the corals feeding response.

P.s. your video isn't working

Oh the video is working on my browser, weird. I didn't realise candy canes had tentacles, is that a good thing?

I was able to watch the video, if the part that’s moving in the center of the coral is what you’re referencing then @SOGavity is definitely correct. It’s just the feeder tentacles showing.

To me it looks like a vermatid snail tube. They will always make their way into your tank, they are mostly harmless, but sometimes they will grow in corals like that and it sucks when that happens. It will keep growing and eventually kill the coral unless you kill it first. Sometimes you can break the tube and expose the worm, but not in this case, I think the best in this case is to put a dab of glue on the opening of the tube.

Yea I don’t see any anything but feeder tentacles. I don’t see vermatid either. If there was it would be on the base / body not on the flesh. I don’t see anything wrong with this candy except the color is very pale almost bleached. Make sure you have it in the right amount of light

It's on the bottom of the tank, I had it closer to the top for the first couple days and it wasn't happy up there. This was right after I put it in the tank.

Its feeding tentacles as others stated, please do not put glue or attempt to snap that tube unless you want to kill that head completely

No I won't! I had no idea they had tentacles all the pictures I've seen don't show them lol
Wait until you see your LPS after the lights go out for a few hours, thats when they really come out and I used to feed them at night. While SPS have small polyps that grab particles from the water column, LPS have a large mouth that usually will have tentacles to grab the food to bring it to the mouth. Heres a picture of my plate coral and micromussa doing just that so you can see what im talking about👍 This hobby is absolutely amazing. Sorry about the crappy pictures
