I can't wait to get my pair of yashas when I get back from Charlotte!
I love the shrimp/goby symbiotic relationships.
I have a pair of pistols in my 20g that are waiting for their goby friends!

Pistol shrimp have very limited sight. They depend on the gobies to help feed them.
Mine are spoiled brats and both shrimp have been in there for almost a year without gobies. I make sure they snatch up some food while I'm feeding the rest.
I'm looking forward to the addition of the yashas.

"The Goby's Eyes Are Its Major Contribution
The most important attribute the goby fish contributes to the partnership is its superior eyesight. The pistol shrimp has very poor vision (some species can only identify two colors), so when foraging for food outside of the burrow, it is very vulnerable to predators, since it cannot detect potential threats effectively (Z. Jaafar 2012). This is where the goby comes in. When outside of the burrow, the shrimp maintains constant contact with the goby with its antennae, while the goby keeps a lookout. When it detects danger, it flicks its tail, alerting the shrimp and causing it to retreat back to the safety of the burrow (Karplus 1987)."

And in return the lazy goby gets a home. Very nice write up

I learned a bit! Thank you!

I have a citron goby in my cube and I love the little bugger. Eats aggressively as hell and dosent take crap from the wrasses or clowns in my cube tank.

Basically this. If you watch a goby and pistol shrimp video on YouTube and find it entertaining, odds are you'd like a pair in your tank. I find the relationship between them interesting, and I imagine it brings out more of their true nature in your tank.

So far I just have the pistol shrimp, going on 2 years. I feed it directly at the entrances if its caves. Actually quite fun to watch. I lay a large flake over his hole and wait till he grabs it and yanks it down into his cave. Then he come out and waves to me and blows kisses.

Can't wait to pair him with his yasha next week!

Today, I fly home from NC to NJ after a great long weekend after The Aquatic Expo.
This was me trying to close my suitcase this mirning with the 5 extra t shirts (@ZoWhat I'll mail yours this week!)

Met so many great new people, checked out the Charlotte Food Festival, worked my butt off as a volunteer with @Bleigh (and stole her baby for a couple hours), participated in an aquascape contest (I think I still have a little super glue in my hair), and saw so many pretty corals and reptiles! I thought about getting another snake, but all I could hear was Samuel Jackson in my mind.

Finally met up with my lovely friend @LeeLoo Lola, bothered my friends at @RiptideAquaculture, and got to stay with and spend time with my favorite cousin I haven't seen in 4 years.

Dr. Reef shipment coming this Wedn!! Gotta finish placing corals and moving rocks!

P.s. anyone else feel like Samuel L. Jackson was type-cast  out of romantic comedies? Scandalous, I say. @OrchidMiss good call on the no snakes on a plane, but what is that gecko you got? My littlest is starting to like reptiles.

I didn't get that little beauty, I just photographed him. I only worked the show, I didn't bring anything home with me :(

This little frag still needs a name!!
Evelyn, Mia, Cecilia, or Amelia arr the choices.

RAP NY is up in the air. I have a photo engagement I've already committed to. Hoping to make an appearance!

Just so happens that we have some Italian type music playing in the background so Cecilia gets my vote!

Hope to see you this weekend!
