What's on your punch-list?

Your tank is all put together. Water is flowing, equipment is working, fish are swimming, corals might even be growing, but what are those last little things that need to be done before you can consider things to be "complete"?** this goes for you experienced reefers too!

I think mine right now could use a lot more organization. Cables need tidied up, shelves need to be added to keep things from being a jumbled mess. Stuff like that, just those last few things that are making your tank feel unfinished.


**Complete being a relative term as i dont think our reef is ever complete. Our reefs are a living organism and equipment needs and livestock demands will be ever changing, there wont ever be that pretty, wrapped up with a bow, moment.

Cable management is akin to folding laundry right out of the dryer, I will never succeed at either.

I'm looking for 1 more Hydros Controller for the Collective and then I'm done. Maybe a calcium or alkalinity reactor down the line but I feel like I'm doing good with just a doser up to this point.

Right!? I want to get it to a point that it is 'done' and anything from there out can be future me's problem. I started using velcro strap thinking it would make it better. It does, but i still just wadd stuff up and chuck it in...

Dosing can keep up with quite a bit, or are you thinking more for the balanced everything aspect of the reactor vs quantity

Well, when I finally spend my @Dooly gift card I'm going to have 10 frags plus all the Montiporas already in the tank.

Amature numbers! I have more than that just on frag racks ( I had to go count, now i am embarrassed i brought it up... 26 on racks if you simply must know )

Dosing can keep up with quite a bit! Although it does get much more economical to diversify once you start using a ton.

I've got 4 or 5 that I want and then the rest I'm leaving up to him. I gotta get the Birdsnest colony out, the BTAs out and into the Sump, and print a few more hangers to put some on.

I spent 10 hours one day in March re wiring everything and I’m so glad it’s done. Next is installing this bad boy and then it’s on to the anenome cannon till I’m down to maybe 2. Then I can relax until they split again.

I need to make a Nem Cannon for my tank. I've gotta clear out and make room for some SPS.

I have had mixed results with the nem cannon. Some of mine decided they could stretch the 6 inches instead of walking out. It looked like it worked awesome and the head was fully out of the pipe, but alas, the foot was still attached to rock :/

Outside of the on going maintenance to your point, I hate being “done” as I’m always looking for ways to do more. A huge part of the enjoyment for me is having or looking for something more to do to the tank and its inhabitants. Whether it’s changing equipment, dosing practices, flow patterns, lighting intensity, etc., what I enjoy is never being finished in the pursuit of perfection. Of course, this will never be achieved but it’s what drives me.

Hopefully I don’t “tweak” things to the detriment of the tank.
