Whats your experience keeping copperbands?

Got 2 through 5 week quarantine and they were doing well. When moved to DT both lasted about 3 weeks. They are such slow and deliberate eaters that my other fish would consume all the food while the copperband was still thinking about it. Even made a DYI copperband feeder and had the 2nd one eating out of it in QT but when moved to the display the other fish learned quickly that the copperband would pull food out of that feeder for them. Very frustrating because I love copperbands but if you have aggressive eaters in your tank they’re really hard to get adequate food to them.

I only go with Muellers Copperbands as I find them a little bit hardier hence a little bit better shippers, and a little bit easier to condition. They also seem to share the same benefits as "traditional" Copperbands such as consuming Aiptasia. Also, I personally find them better looking.

In my experience with cbb it's hit or miss.
I had one for over one year but he had to be hand fed, otherwise too slow for the tangs.
The one i have now (since last fall) is doing fine, i feed lrs.

As long as you qt, they do well. In the qt without competition you can take care of diseases and can get them eating. I have 1 and it eats the most in my tank.

Definitely my favorite in my tank. Took him 5 days to eat. Was having my LFS come pick him up and right before they came I had a package get delivered with my basket feeders, and they worked. He wanted to pluck mysis from something, then I used syringe to feed, put below surface and moved it around and he would pluck from the tip and eat, now Hes the first to get mysis when I put a half cube in. He actually uses his body to keep other fish from feeding. Pretty funny cuz it only works sometimes as hes the not the fastest in the tank. Had him just over a month now and hes doing lovely. Still hasn't picked at coral or any other inverts.

All fairly finicky to feed but all eventually are after a variety of "simulation" or trials of new methods

Qt on butterflies is extremely stressful and I would not suggest doing so, however I do not qt any livestock.

I'm new and have chosen not to Qt but Instead to INSPECT and take precautions before adding or even purchasing. Fairly seemless transition from store to tank so far. What food are they eating, have they eatin, how long they've been there fights, fins color scales eyes breathing gills everything. Also haven't purchased from online. Probably wont anytime soon.

Had 3 so far in 16 years.. eat like pigs.. did take them all on condition I could see them eat at the lfs for at least 3 consecutive weeks.. tank crashes killed first two.. last one is a gentle creature
only regret is that I now cannot keep feather stars, clams, coco worms, etc..
upside is less aiptasia.. I deliberately introduced aiptasia years ago for my copperbands
