Pictures?I have a bit in my reef tank, I just collect it about 20m from the shore in 1m depth of water over the road from my house.
Pictures?
Prodigious… absolutely prodigious. Has the turtleweed ever negativity affected its tankmates? It is said to contain toxins.
haven't noticed any ill effects so far, I have deliberatly placed it very close to one coral to see what happens...Prodigious… absolutely prodigious. Has the turtleweed ever negativity affected its tankmates? It is said to contain toxins.

will keep you posted as I only added it a week ago, but from memory when I last kept it while living in Australia in the early 90's, it was much slower than most other algaes. How fast does it grow?

can confirm it is slow growingUpdate?
My guess is it is hard to collect it without the rock attached, and if shipped with rock it incurs a CITES fee. Caribbean species that are hard to collect without collecting the rock are usually not in the hobby unless it came from aquaculture, because Caribbean rock is protected.
I thought Turtleweed/Maiden's hair algae (Chlorodesmis) was quite a popular macroalgae a few years back, but it never seems to be available anymore. What happened? Does this have to do with recent collection bans in the Indo-Pacific region (but isn’t Chlorodesmis also native to the Caribbean)?
Update?
