Where to place eyelets?

I’ve built a canopy for my peninsula and am not sure what the best place is to place the eyelets for the wire hanging kit to go.

Should I go into the four shelves that hold the fixture up or should I go into the outer frame of the canopy? (Which of the green arrows?)

I would think the frame would be better as there is more wood to grab into, and your not relying on the screws holding the "shelves" in place.
