WHITE SPOT ON CANDY CANE, ADVICE PLEASE!

I just noticed this white spot on my cc. Its right where the tissue meets the skeleton. Not too far from that tube worm or whatever it is... could this be the cause? Besides eliminating the worm, what can I do??
