I followed the link in the email but it just tried to get me to download the Alexa app. When I open the Alexa app it's not there?

Did you give me the email that you use for your Amazon Alexa account? I believe the link in the email is supposed to launch directly into the Alexa app.

I'm trying to limit users so I can keep an eye on everything for a bit. The skill is in testing right now so it won't show up until I finish all the requirements to get it published.

Does the functionality stop if your server goes down? I love the idea! Just turned my skimmer on/off for the first time using voice. Seems silly, but is great!

The way I built the system, there is no live server that stays running. If APEX Fusion is down, or if they make API changes without me noticing then there might be some unexpected responses. If any command ever fails, let me know right away and I’ll look into why it failed.

Would it be helpful to start a list of voice commands (other than what's on this thread). Maybe something that could be printed out?

The full (supported) list is currently in the second post of this thread.

Toggle power to your return pump:
"Alexa, tell my reef to start up"
"Alexa, tell my reef to shut down"

Toggle any outlets:
"Alexa, tell my reef to switch off the *LED Light*."
"Alexa, tell my reef to switch on the *Reactor Pump*."
"Alexa, reset the *Calcium Reactor*."

* Outlet names are based on your personal APEX configuration.

Toggle water current/wavemakers:
"Alexa, tell my reef to stop the current"
"Alexa, tell my reef to reset the current"
"Alexa, tell my reef to start the current"

Feed (this always launches feed mode A):
"Alexa, tell my reef I'm ready to feed"

Log and read test results (works for alkalinity, calcium, phosphate, nitrate, and magnesium):
"Alexa, ask my reef for the latest alkalinity trend"
"Alexa, tell my reef that the calcium is 420 parts per million"

More commands will be added in the future including the ability to read and log test results and get test trends (these commands are currently still being optimized to be more consistent).

I've noticed that when giving voice commands, Alexa returns false negatives (so to speak). For example, if I say, "Alexa, tell My Reef to turn off ANYTHING". It will return, "DONE, ANYTHING off".

I have a fix for that coming shorty. Once fixed, it will let you know if it didn’t recognize the name and ask you to repeat it to try again.

Are you still looking for beta testers? This is SWEET! I’d love to give it a go! Long time Apex user bu5 I’ve only been using Alexa about a year.

Hey everyone. I've been working on an Alexa skill that allows you to use voice commands to control outlets on your APEX controller. I think the app is ready for some real world testing, so I'll need some daring participants to test it out.

Here are a few live demos from my last build:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BX0OOv5lJzP/?taken-by=nullreef
https://www.instagram.com/p/BX0N2WEFESY/?taken-by=nullreef

For anyone that's interested in testing this skill, I only ask that you report back any bugs, comments, or concerns that you have with the app. I will have to add testers on a per-person basis, and all that's required is an active email address.

Let me know if you're interested!
I would really like to try it.
Doug

Had to reactivate today. Just curious - when setting up, I selected the outputs for skimmer, return, etc. How can I edit these? For wavemaker, I added a Gyre 150 and Gyre 130, but when told to stop current, only the 150 turns off. Maybe I didn't add the 130 correctly.

Looking back to your reefing roots: Did you start with Instant Ocean salt?
