Why is there a sponge killing my frogspawn?

I have an acan same thing

Gets surgery e2m till I can figure something out
 
They can sting yes. Not always.

My purple plating sponge was stinging my candy canes.
 
Ok. I'll brush them off. Being that I started this tank from dry rock and dry sand, I'm assuming these sponges formed from KZ Sponge power since I use the zeovit system. Granted, there is a slight chance that I could have acquired the sponge from a frag....
