Wildlife near you :)

Red and black you're safe Jack
Red and yellow will kill a fellow

I think how that's how it goes. They taught us that in school and scouts when I lived in TX.
This is how I learned it to red touch black your safe jack... red touch yellow kills a fellow... same thing basically

don't think thats something I care to test out. Me and snakes not a good relationship.

I'm with you there. Not a fan of 'nope ropes' in general but especially the kind that can kill me! Even though I think I read coral snakes are rear fanged or have small fangs and it is hard for them to envenomate an adult, not something I really want to test out!

You guys and your free snakes are lucky! I kept a variety of snakes for a number of years, I’d be very happy to find free ones in the house!

Sitting outside my front door listening to the Cubs game and surfing R2R on my phone. Chipmunk just literally climbed on my shoe before I noticed him. I think he ran into my apartment. These cute little guys are bold, chip and dale style. I’m feeling a bit like Donald Duck.

Around here, we've got mostly blacksnakes. Lots of them. I keep chickens, which means I'm spreading corn around, which means I've got lots of mice... which brings in the blacksnakes.

I don't mind. They can have all the mice they can catch. Once in a while, one will find his way to the nesting boxes, start eating my eggs. Once they've identified the eggs as a source of food, they'll keep coming back. Only thing to do at that point is to kill 'em, but as long as they don't get into my eggs, live and let live.

We got lots of rain this spring, when the snakes started coming out, the ground was pretty saturated. All three of these pics were taken within 5 minutes, and there were dozens more of them. It was actually hard to find a tree without a snake in it. Never seen anything quite like it.

Hope it didn’t make it inside. I fight them all the time. They get up inside the walls of my shop. Cute but pests.

I ran into a big black snake this when I was young. Out picking raspberries by myself. Scared the living daylights out of me. It is the single reason why I dislike most snakes to this day. Only reason I don't hate snakes altogether is a story for a different day. Involves the pet store I managed, a customer, and a baby red tail boa!

Was out fishing yesterday off the coast of california coming out of marina del rey about 10 miles out almost in international waters and we hit a rocky patch as we were drifting and started to catch rockfish, threw them back, the ones whose swim bladder took longer or just died drew this little guy in and he 'attacked' our boat and nudged it lol. He got in a fight or something as tendons or something was growing without skin. We couldn't tell if it was a blue shark or a thresher shark do to some of the damage and it still being young. It was a blue/purple mixture in color. Ended up eating two fish, circling us and going under us for 15 minutes then left. Wish I got video of it eating, excuse the vertical filming then flipping, was shocked when I first started filming and then when trying to correct it my phone was like 'no' we are staying vertical lol

Hey there @Fishurama, looks like you "befreinded" a blue shark with a bunch of parasitic copepods on it's dorsal fin.

I dont know if it's copepods, i didnt know they get that big, lol, could be a parasite, but seeing it in person, it was munched up, it's dorsal fin was, it's tailfin was, and so was one of it's pectoral fins. You can see on video two at around 7 seconds his tailfin is missing part of it, you can see the open flesh, hence why we couldn't decide if it was a thresher or blue. If it had it's tail it would be easier to tell, but the blue/purple is also a thresher shark coloring whereas blue sharks are more blue but can have some purple. If only it had it's full tail LOL.

This is what it looked like in person color wise, without the tail, hence why we were debating what it was. Ill probably make a thread on it later, im sure there is a marine biologist on here that would know.

Thresher shark. Not common and an aggressive feeder. Generally comes up from deeper waters in the evening.

Haven't posted in a while.
In our nearby park, this time of year there are Persimmon trees with ripe fruit. In the evening masked bandits gorge themselves and often get so full they just sleep it off in the trees.
