Will This Be too Powerful?

Hello,

My original plan of getting an IM lagoon 25 changed. Now the IM 20 peninsula seems to best fit my circumstances. I'd like to go t5/led for this, but it is only 30x12x13(inches).

So, would it be overpowered to go with the Reefbrite Supra Dual t5 Retrofit along with a Reefbrite blue XHO? I would be using 1 blue plus bulb and 1 aquablue special bulb.

I'm assuming this combination would support most corals? Would the XHO 50/50 be a better choice? Or would either XHO be way too much power for such a small tank?

Hello,

I am planning on acans, zoas/palys, and hammers. Later, however, I might try sps. I will likely upgrade by then though.

Also, I know mounting height plays a role on output/spread. I am willing to mount the lights higher than the average tank if that is necessary. I think there is a dimmer for the XHO's as well?

I figured that I could reuse the XHO's if I upgrade, this way I can save money in the long run.

Any other opinions, experiences, or advice is welcome.

I think it’s going to be too much light for a tank that’s only 13 inches deep. The led/T5 combo is a lot, unless you’re keeping stony corals. Unless you turn it down, I think you’re going to nuke the tank.

I'm trying to keep it under $400.

Maybe if I use the Tech Leds or the Lumi Lite strips instead? They are less expensive and have less of an output.

Take a look at AI Hydra 26. They are under $400 and I think that would be a great fit for your tank. The intensity and color is adjustable and may be a great choice for your application.
