Hey everyone. So I just got a few mixed types of wrasse today to QT while my take is fallow. What would be the best practices to QT wrasse? My other tangs and stuff are already in 2.3PPM of copper power checked with Hanna. Usually id start with copper but I know not all wrasse can handle copper so they’re in their own QT tank. I know wrasse tend to have flukes so should I treat with general cure first and than do copper? Or copper and general cure together?

I have copper power, prazi, general cure, a bunch of seachem metro, kana, focus, reef rally pro, formalin, hydrogen peroxide and some antibiotics as well.

It depends on the wrasse, but most wrasse can handle copper. You just have to bring it up very slowly and not go over 2.5ppm.

When i qt my wrasse i do copper for 30 days first, then i do 2-4 weeks of prazi pro, and then 2 weeks of metro if i think they might have internal parasites.

Copperpower and coppersafe are literally the same and can be used. The very level you have is satisfactry. They are also prone to flukes and consider Prazipro after the quarantine period . The disadvantage with QT of wrasse is , you want to add a deep bowl of sand and bear in mind, they can be jumpers
Do not use metro which should be used precisely by weight and when absolutely necessary. It also makes food taste bitter

So slowly ramp up the copper over the next 48 hours? Can I do general cure with copper power or should I wait until after copper treatment?

I didn’t want to even go over 2.0 with copper. Would general cure be fine? Or should I use only prazi? My issue with prazi is that it’s really hard on oxygen in the tank

Do not ramp up but get to level within 24 hours

take it to 2.2. Coppersafe begins to work at 2.0

I would use PraziPro. General Cure contains a lower concentration of praziquantel, so it’s less effective and harder to dose precisely, which is important because wrasse are sensitive to praziquantel. I would just add an air bubbler with a couple of air stones to the tank.

General cure does not treat all illnesses. I would recommend you just use the quarantine protocol at the beginning of the thread - which is 30 days copper, then 2 treatments with prazipro 8 days apart (sometimes 3 are required). There is no need for the metronidazole in General cure at this point. And - it is my preference not to mix medications - even if it says it's ok on the bottle.
