Wrasse Tank- opinions?

I have a 75 gal tank that's currently cycling. decided to do research on what fish I want in the future.

I love wrasses- and I am thinking of having several in my tank. But I am not sure which are compatible and how many of each.. can I get some ideas please? I love the carpenter, leopard and mystery.

I currently have a pair of clowns in my smaller tank that will be moved over to the 75 gal. The tank will be hosting corals as well, so the wrasse would need to be reef-safe.

I like fairies, flashers, certian halichores (there are some good and bad) and the leopards. I don't think mystery wrasses are the best as they don't mix well with other wrasses(could be off with this).

Just an fyi. Its usually tough to get a sixline or mystery to get along with other wrasses.

To advise you we should probably know your per fish budget or total fish budget. Say you were to get 8 wrasse, what is the total max spend? I can work with that

Considering I would not get all 8 (give or take) wrasses at once, I'd probably say I am looking to spend around $50 per fish. Get one, save, get another, save.. and so on.

Oh, I do not want a six-line. had one with my clowns and didn't like its temperment- though they got along pretty well (with occasional stand offs)

Stay away from the Mystery Wrasse unless your going to a predator tank. They are terrors when they get bigger. I'm trying to catch mine now to get rid of. Make sure your tank is very mature for Leopards. Fairy and some flashers are good candidates, colorful and active. JMO

I don't have much to add that hasn't already been said. Flashers, fairies, small Halichoeres, leopards, and Pseudojuloides species would work.

A covered top is a must. And utilizing a social acclimation box to introduce new wrasses to existing ones is a good idea.

I would recommend only getting one specimen per species.

Blue star leopard, potters leopard, ornate leopard, yellow coris wrasse, really any two flasher wrasse, red head Solon wrasse, and a melanarus.

Melanarus are real good for the ecosystem.
However, I have a six line wrasse already and he's a perfect tank mate .
He's bundled in with a vicious purple pseudo too :eek::rolleyes:

Model citizen sixlines are the exception rather than the rule, particularly the longer they are in the tank, a year+.
