I have a super-male Rosy Scales that has been with me for 2 years. I recently added a lineatus, via an acclimation box. I wanted to acclimate for full 2 weeks, but he jumped, and world war 3 has started. He's ticked, rosy scales is ticked, the rest of the tank is fighting because why not.

At this point I was able to catch rosy scales only and placed him in the acclimation box. Lineatus is alive, hiding, only comes out once a day to grab food. I am curious if I have any options for success here, or if I have to replace / relocate rosy scales as he'll never allow anyone else to visit.

I think the writing is on the table.

The rubrisquamis (or do you have finifenmaa?) can be quite aggressive. The several lineatus that I have kept were on the mild mannered side of the spectrum. I don’t think it will work. Size of tank? I believe @i cant think had at least the finifenmaa

Get a mirror up ASAP.

Cirrhilabrus finfenmaa is rather boisterous if another fish is not kept in line. My aquamarinus always kept the newer wrasses in line and stopped them from being too pushy.
The lineatus will be equally as pushy once established. My one barely got along with my laboutei during the initial settling period (I even added both pretty much a week apart from each other).
Luckily today, most of my wrasses get along with the odd bickering. But any time I add another, the mirror doesn’t come down for a good 2 weeks, and that’s not just due to the wrasses - my angels also have something to say when I add a new wrasse.

I also find if a wrasse is too small and male, I have to grow them on or fatten them up before they hit the main tank - it’s why I have my Vivien and Lapillus Leopards in my 20G nano, just so that I can fatten them up before they enter the 180G system.

Hope this helps a bit - for any further ideas on if this match will work, give us some ideas on tank size 🙂

I actually don't know which one I have, thanks for calling that out. I didn't realize there are 2 species. I'll post a picture in a bit. The tank is a Red Sea 850, 180g in the main display.

Thanks so much. How does the mirror help? The bully picking fights with himself? And how large of a mirror would you recommend for a 180?

True Finifenmaa - rubrisquamis is seldom seen even in the wild (it’s assumed the true Rubrisquamis is more in colour to the Vibranium Fairy Wrasse - Cirrhilabrus wakanda).

For the mirror trick I recommend a mirror that’s about 2 foot long (so it can cover one of the side panels to the tank). I use it mainly to distract bullies through having them get more defensive at their own species (another Cirrhimabrus finifenmaa male) rather than getting defensive towards the other related species (in this case the other Cirrhilabrus) within the system.
