I have xenia and star polyps growing everywhere. Every month I scrape them off the back of tank. They are growing all over the reef and are impossible to ripe off the live rock and get all the tissue off. So they keep growing back. I heard in another thread to dose your tank with fluxe tabs and it will kill it all. I am about to take all the live rock out and start over but I have a feeling it will still come back. What can I do? Has anybody every heard about dosing fluxe tabs? And are there any affects it could have on the tank?

You could always bleach the rocks they are on. That will kill everything off on the rock. Use a 10:1 solution of bleach and RO water and soak for a minimum of 24 hours. I just did this to my rocks to kill an encrsting gorgonian pest.

After you bleach it you need to let it soak in RO water overnight then let it dry out. Make sure the smell of bleach is gone before you stick it back in the tank.

It will no longer be "live rock", but in time it will regain the bacteria. I haven't seen anyone have any problems with their tank as long as you do it properly.

How much rock are you looking to do? How much will be left? What size tank? How much of a load? What skimmer do you have?

I remember seeing people pull half the rock out of their tank to cook it a few years back when SeanT came up with the cooking rock thread on RC.

It is a 120 with a 36x24x12 frag tank tied into one. I have a octopus skimmer i have a big coral load and a small load of fish. I'm looking to do four or five nice size rocks

You can also use something like a bonecutter and cut the rock off under it so your getting all of it and it wont grow back.
