He was looking at the little bits of flake and pellet but didn't go after them. Maybe he will eventually.

Mine eats flakes, pellets, fish roe, mysis…pretty much anything that hits the tank. It also is not reclusive at all and hangs out in the middle of the water column all day. Definitely not the norm for this species.

Yes my wrasse likes to chill mid to low side as well. Often swimming by the cardinalfish I have.

I love me a possum wrasse! any pics?
These are pics from when my tank was new. I have tiny bits of coraline algae now since this post. But these are the ones I have lol. I should take more because he's not skittish at all. When he sees me always surfs the front.

Been trying to find a buddy for mine, unfortunately they are seemingly impossible to sex at a glance, and when they are not a match, they know quickly and will attack each other in pretty short order...

Very cute little guys, though, I love their eyes.

I think mine is a female because of the more bland red and yellow she has. Males are more bold in color.

Thanks for posting those pics! I had one in my last setup which failed catastrophically after 10 months. I am getting back into the game now and a possum wrasse is on my stocking list. I love how they float around the tank like a hovercraft!

Mine is fat lol she eats so many mysis shrimp. Let me know if you want any help getting back into it. I created my own rodi water system and mix my own salt water.

Thank you for the kind offer! Can you send me some money? :zany-face:

Just kidding, but it has gotten more expensive over just the last 5 years. I paid $50 for my first possum wrasse, now I see them for $80.

I paid slowly for upgrades and fish over the last 2 or 3 months. I also converted all the freshwater stuff I had to saltwater which made it easier for me lol. My wrasse cost $70 but I got 20% off the $70 because the guy always sees me there. Nice shop called blakes aqua den in connecticut.

That's great! There is something to be said for a brick and mortar store in this day and age of online shopping.

It’s interesting to hear you guys struggle to have a possum eating mysis/brine. I had a stunning tanakai (Unfortunately lost to an urchin) that would eat everything. Wish I had photos of him, instead my only photo I have is him being eaten alive by my pincushion urchin which is no longer in my nano tank.

I inherited one from a local reefer and i thought all along they ate anything :grinning-face-with-sweat: as thats how mine does. But in saying that i just dosed the tank with pods to help battle other issues so maybe it will be a good thing that i have pods in there now with him. Im about to add a tailspot blenny to this tank to help with some of the algae.
