You clean your skimmer and your ENTIRE house smells like someone had a bad experience with Krystals!!! WHEW!!!

Now that I think about it, I probably should have gone ahead and dosed some Special Blend while I was at it... heh...

Your skim color goes from tea colored, watery and clearish to almost black tea, thick and nasty.. And of course that change in smell you mentioned.. Lol

Lol true.. But the cure actually is very simple. More frequent draining. I drain my cup every 2nd day. A buddy I used to have have me the tip that was great!

You use a silicon airline, and one of the holes in the lid, open it a little with a stool or Drexel, then drain it by creating a suction with syringe or eye dropper.. Works great!

I remember leaving it sit for the cup to fill up and God I used to hate going into the cabinet.. Lol

Yeah, I waited too long this time... My skimmer cup actually has a drain line, I just haven't used it yet... thinking about hooking it up, though.

I'll be in the same boat here soon. But I remember when I ran pellets before the skimate was nasty. But good idea to dose special blend on skimmer cleaning days

This look good enough, lol.. 2 days worth. I wet it up a bit and have about that much from just 24 hours in there now.

I remember from my old tank I had an Ona scent jar that sat in the cabinet. It may end up being that way again as I have

Of pellets in my reactor, and for the tank size, I'm really only supposed to be using 6 to 8 Oz..

Maybe the pellets are working better than I thought, because my skimmer works overtime and the ENTIRE HOUSE gets fumigated when I empty the cup.

LOL, I try to empty and clean mine while the old lady isn't home. Even then she'll get home hours later and ask if I just cleaned the skimmer, talk about nasty.

Wow! I couldn't imagine not cleaning
That thing or for a long period of time. I couldn't susah it myself, let alone the gf since it's in the living room and we're both really anal about smells and scents.. The crazy thing is mine, this system is new (2 months and 3 days), so it's not going to get any better.. Lol..

But I really really try to stay on top of it for performance(I can tell when that neck needs to be cleaned) and for the scent.

Never use hot water when cleaning. The steam worsens it. I am not running pellets currently but man does my skimmer produce nasty stuff. Brandon are you using the beast that u got with the tank?
