I've noticed my Zoas have slowed down in growth. However, all of my LPS and SPS haven't been better! I just recently started running an algae scrubber only a week ago and it's already taken effect. Other changes to the tank have been a protein skimmer added a little over a month ago.

My main concern are my Rasta Zoas I got from Mike about 3 months ago. They have not sprouted a single new head yet, I've heard they can be slow growers, but how slow?

All of my levels are good, except high calcium around 500.

My zoas do that too. They'll grow like crazy, then stop. They're still growing but possibly in a different spot. I wouldn't worry unless they start dying off.

None have died off. Just been having a frekking pincushion urchin that enjoys pulling the Zoas off whatever I glue them too.

Anybody want a pincushion sea urchin?

I got some Rastas from Mike at the December meeting. Had two heads, one died off, and now I have two and a tiny baby head. They are slow, most of your higher end zoas are slow, thus the price.

Lol. I was contemplating getting rid of my urchin. He lost my orange zoas.

I'm constantly playing hide and seek with my urchin...he hides the coral and I find it before it gets buried.

lol.. I warned you. :xd: they love to raid a good frag rack too. LOL.

as for the Zoas, I notice mine grow in spurts as well. my tubs are in a growth pattern now. Ive put on like 8 heads this month. and to top that off, I fragged over 175 heads of my green zoas this week and I cant even tell I made a dent in them.

My dragon eyes grew like crazy, but I sold both of my colonies. I guess with them being gone everything could just seem to be growing slower...

I've heard some limpets can eat soft coral. I have several limpets in my tank. I think they're called keyhole limpets? They have a hole on the top of their shell.

I saw it browsing the web somewhere...I just was curious because I noticed one near a frag of Zoas earlier...and now there's 3 heads of fire and ice missing.

Do any of you try to feed the zoos and palys w coral food like coral frenzy or reef roids?

I've also heard/read that keyhole limpets are coral munchers but I can't recall what kinds of corals they eat.

There are different types of Asterinas and some are just great algae grazers but others are for sure zoa predators. I have witnessed them eating zoas in my tank in the past.
