for Pookstreet's Tyree Lavender Watermelon.

The Tyree Pink Watermelon is from a frag I picked up from Chris (Reef Doctor Micromussa) at MACNA.

Yep. I know its a long shot. But it sounds like there are a few people out there who have it so I might get lucky. Pookstreet's prolly had enough pm's about this coral. I don't want to bother him.

I was suprised when I managed to get the Flame Thrower so I figured I'd give it a shot. Can't hurt to try. :)

Yep. Didn't look like anyone was going to make a trade so I took drastic measures.

Not sure how you aquired a Flame Thrower since I haven't released one yet. I am the namer and founder of that coral and there are no other corals out there that have lineage to mine so not sure how you got one. There might be someone out there trying to pass there's off as the Flame Thrower to turn a profit but it simply isn't true. I noticed one on e-bay. it looked very close but not exact. It had alot of dark striations running through it. Mine does not. I will try and get a close up when I get a chance. Just because it looks close doesn't mean it's the same. I know this subject has been brought up many times. Just because it looks close does not make it the real thing. As far as the Flame Thrower goes if it didn't come from Blue Planet Corals then it's not the real thing. Sorry for bringing up this subject but I couldn't help my self.

Mike at Captive Reef has one. I am assuming his is also a fake since you never release yours?

Nino's can't be the only one. Sure he is the one that named it and what not, but it seems pretty ludicrous to think that he has the only one ever created on planet Earth.

Nino, I'm assuming you missed my post on the other thread? I traded with Coralfarm123 to get it. There is not a doubt in my mind that it is the exact same coral. I will call it Coralfarm123's Flame Thrower if that makes you more comfortable though and when, or if, I trade it I'll make sure to explain the lineage difference. I'm betting most people won't care because they just like the coral rather than the marketing name appended to the coral.

Just to be frank, I think this is a rediculous argument. I a crazy looking chalice comes in and me and one of my friends split the colony and know it is the exact same coral, then I give mine a name like stupid argument chalice and it catches on and people start buying it then we both have the stupid argument chalice. It would be rediculous for me to get mad that he is selling frags off of his half of the coral as the stupid argument chalice and say his is not the stupid argument chalice when I know it came from the same colony. Which sounds to me like what is happening in this instance. Just my .02

I totally agree. I think everyone here has made it pretty clear that it is the same coral. To not acknowledge that is pretty absurd.

It's a tough issue. It makes a difference and is obviously important to Nino. There are no clear standards for naming corals in this industry. No one is sure exactly what "lineaged" means. Can something be "lineaged" when the person who named it only has a frag and not the original colony? To be frank, I'm not sure there is an answer but I also don't think the issue is stupid.

well said, there is a fine line I think at the least coral123 should put his name in front to separate his from nino's as two diffrent colony's.
