I’m interested in getting a Blenny but I’ve been reading they starve a lot in captivity, particularly the Midas and lawnmower Blennie’s. Do all Blennies have this problem? If not do you think bicolor, canary, or tailspot Blennies are a good choice?
Hey y’all!
I’m looking to add some life to my 65gal reef tank. The tank looks somewhat empty a lot of the time, I think in part due to the fish I have. Looking to add another species or two and am open to suggestions. No wrasses as I’ve had some bad experiences with them ;0(

Hi there,
I’m new here and need some help with trying to figure out next steps.
I’ve had my tank up and running for a month now and put in two clownfish as the starting fish. They were doing great with no issues.
I decided a week and a half later to add a tail spot blenny and a purple...
I'll post my experience here with wild-caught individuals from the Adriatic sea. It's not a common fish in the trade.
This is my first saltwater tank with limited freshwater experience (<1y), so don't be surprised by unusual parameters and setups.
I kinda want to add a flame tail blenny to my tank but i also want to add a starry blenny will these fish get a long? I also have a red firefish in my tank rn and also plan on getting a neon goby should they all be ok together?
Hello all. I've been in the process of stocking my tank in the past month or so and had a question. I have a number of different macroalgae in my display and have noticed some accumulation of nuisance algae on their surfaces. My current cleanup crew (Tiger Conch, Trochus/Nassarius snails...
Lets have some fun! Post a picture of your thiccccc lawnmower blenny to see how yours stands to others! I'll start with my thick boy that rolls around the tank.
I purchased what was supposed to be a Sailfin Blenny but I believe it’s actually a Starry Blenny. It’s about 3 inches long already, mostly black/dark brown with some white/lighter colored stripes and white in front of the pectoral fins, on the face (especially mouth), and cirri. The tail and...
In the process of starting up a nano tank and I am ironing out my fish list. I would like an algae grazing fish, but because of the 25g nano I am limited to small fish.
So do algae grazing blennies make a difference? Is there another fish for the job?
I have also read that many blennies nip...
Hello all,
Just wondering about mixing different types of blennies together.
I haven't got any at the moment, but wanted to understand which different types there are and which ones mean that you can't have certain other ones.
Also, does this affect gobies as well? Will it limit which gobies...
I think the lighter one is a male and the darker a female, the male occasionally follows the other one around and does this dance thing for a bit, is this a bonding thing potentially or is it aggressive in nature? They do it for a while sometimes but this is the best video I've been able to get...
Anyone else’s Blennies have an odd habit. Mine has a set bedtime, every night same time it puts it self to bed for the night regardless of tank activity. I find it quite hilarious that my fish has a better bedtime habit then my kids.
Could i pull of a Tailspot and Linear Blenny in the same 40 gallon tank, i could barnacles on both sides or something, i also want a striped blenny but those are different enough so i think it’ll be fine
So restarting my 32 gallon Biocube after a move and am thinking of housing a:
Upper Water column/open swimmer: Scissortail Dartfish OR Harptail Blenny OR Smith's Blenny
with a
Middle water column/rocks: Firefish
and a
Lower water column/bottom: Tail Spot Blenny OR Linear Blenny.
My...
In this thread i wish to share my experience of trying to breed peacock blennies (Salaria pavo) and seek advice about raising the fry. Hopefully i can close their lifecycle and this can act as a guide for people thying to breed them in captivity in the future.
My pair of peacock blennies have...
After cruising the internet looking for solutions to hair algae, I came across the seemingly magic solution known as blennies, and then realized there's dozens of varieties that all seem to be their own fish. As with everything in the hobby, there's no perfect fish, so I imagine there's pros and...
We have some cool fish releasing soon I wanted to make sure you all are kept in the loop. These fish will finish the 4-Step QT/Conditioning Process next week..... We will have some Orange Faced Blueface Angels 3.5" -4" size that are amazing...
Lined Blennies are so cool....as are the tiger...
Hey I’ve been on the hunt for these guys for 3 years now and I’m not having any luck. If anyone knows a site with them in stock or a LFS who has them an is willing to ship I appreciate it. I’m in Louisiana my LFS can’t get them.
Hello! I was wondering what the best sand sifting gobies/blennies/dragonets would be for a 20 gallon long reef tank.
I currently have a pair of clowns, pep shrimp, snails, and saltwater mollies.
thanks in advance!
:D

Hi, I decided to finally set up my dream dwarf seahorse tank. Along the way I've gained a love and collection of gobies/blennies. I currently have a 2 eyed, manderine, yellow jaw, spotted, and fire blenny along with 4 female 3 male dwarf seahorses, one pregnant. The tank is highly seeded with...
Looking for recommendations on a blenny - I want a lively, active fish w/ some personality, that doesn't grow too big. I've been thinking of a lawnmower blenny, midas blenny, or starry blenny. The tailspot blenny seems perfect but I can't find it anywhere. It's sold out on every store online and...
Cycled a new tank and then added the first critters: a Midas Blenny and McCosker's Wrasse.
I'll eventually be moving over corals and fish from an existing 3 yr old tank - can the Lawnmower Blenny from this tank be placed with the Midas Blenny? Existing tank is 28g, new tank is 65g.
Well I took the plunge and bought another fish for my little slice of the ocean. Meet Valentina my beautiful Chestnut Blenny!
I’ll have more photos of her in the tank soon. She’s still being a bit shy but has found several places in the rockwork she likes to perch and watch the...
