Hello everybody,
I decided to start a thread for my 30 gallon innovative marine. Join me, if you would like, as I embark on this journey to turn this tank into something worthy of the bit of open real estate that I was graciously given permission by the bos...I mean my loving significant...
I bought a single 1/2” RFG and the flow mixed with my hygger nano powerhead reach the whole tank but the flow seems low compared to what it was before. Should I leave it? Or switch to dual 1/4” RFGs? My return pump is and power head are at max settings.
I'm doing an experiment... I have two 15gal AIO nano tanks both with three chambers in the back, intake/filtration/output as is typical. I'm interested in putting a long thin LED bulb about 12" or so on 24/7 in the intake chamber (instead of a filter sock which I have removed). This chamber is...
I have a 24g cube that currently has:
- 2 clown fish
- 1 banggai cardinal
- 5 hermit crabs
- 1 conch
- 2 nassarius snails
What else should I add for CUC? Shrimp, more snails? I deal with hair algae 2 years in and that’s about it.
First and foremost, I am completely aware I’m starting my first SW/Reef tank with something that is a bit beyond a beginner level. Constant parameter checks will be needed. However, research and science is what I do best and I have read and researched nano/pico reef aquariums since 2006 and...
I joined R2R a year ago and finally decided to build my first reef tank.
Here is my idea. I saw a lot of videos about people installing a (relatively) small and shallow tank, without sump or skimmer. The idea is mainly to host soft corals, invertebrates and two clowfishes.
I ordered a shallow...
This is everything I ordered for my nano tank setup, let me know what you think! All in all - it's about 2 grand, minus the livestock. Pretty crazy for just 15 gallons... but whatever.
Hello Reef 15 gallon AIO w/ stand (~ $230)
Norwesko 16 gallon utility tank (for water storage) ~$150

Just ordered a Hello Reef 15 gallon setup but it doesn’t come with anything but the stand and tank.
It’s an AIO so there isn’t a lot of room for stuff in the back. I could hook up an external chaeto reactor to take care of excess nutrients, and I could try to install a tiny protein skimmer. I...
Hello everyone, I was watching Facebook reels and came across a nano tank that looks amazing (reef casa). I have had a fish tank before (56 gallon column, with tiger oscars), but I am completely new with salt water. Correct me if I'm wring but I know they are alot more work and reasonably more...
This is my first post and first build thread so go easy on me :-). If you have any feedback, advice or questions let me know!
I picked up a UNS 90LA peninsula tank around a month ago but didn't have room to get setup until all the Christmas stuff was out of the way. I am downsizing from a 90 US...
hey folks, I’m looking for some ideas on stocking for my 3 yr old 25g bare bottom mixed reef tank. I currently have 1 pair of clowns, over a year old and I did have a basslet until a few days ago, he got along well in the tank but unfortunately got himself wedged under a rock and passed. My...
Long time lurker, few time poster on R2R, I enjoy reading others' journals so I'm starting an overdue one for my little nano which is over a year old. This will be a good excuse for me to share macro photos and a place for me to track coral growth. Don't remember the exact date I transferred...
Hey everyone, figured i'd make a build thread for my first proper reef tank. I've spent countless hours enjoying and learning from other threads, so i guess mine might be usefull as well.
I've had planted freshwater tanks before, and rather than buying all new equipment, i decided to try and...
Going to kick off a new nano build… after extensive deliberations my wife and I agreed to a tank at home. Selfishly, I have my main 300 gal at the office and the kids love seeing it but are rarely there to enjoy it, also we don’t have any other pets. So far the Hello Reef instruction video‘s...
Greetings,
Long time lurker. Finally getting going again with a nano tank, so I decided to join.
I started so many moons ago when I found an abandoned 35G tank in my fraternity. I started up with freshwater, but unfortunately for my wallet the LFS had a small saltwater room, where I spent most...
So I filled 9 days ago my nano 55L actual water volume , starting biome cycle, bacter added, full dry rocks with mature live rock ruble in back chamber, copepods and phyto added and I started phytoplankton culture to keep dosing, for next month dark start :) Goal for this aquarium is to make...
It has been an interesting month. The mid brace on my four foot tank broke. I threw everything into an emergency 30 gallon while I figured out what to do. Saved a bunch of the live rock and used it to start over. Test frags are all in thanks to friends and various online shops. Tons of bacteria...
Hello friends!
I’m based in the UK and just purchased a RedSea Nano 20g (second hand).
I’ve done a lot of research and I know that RedSea have some issues, but the tank I’ve bought seems in really good condition and the guy I’ve bought if off had a genuine reason for selling it.
There’s...
Got the itch for a new tank. I am limited in space in my living room to go up to a bigger tank, so I decided I was going to build a nano tank in the bedroom.
My local fish store Matt's Corals had a sale on the Hello Reef 15 gallon AIO.
In order to streamline the cycling process I pulled some...
Hi there,
I have a 3 month old tank that I turned the lights on a couple weeks ago and started getting algae on the rocks.
I’m receiving Scarlet red hermits, some clean up snails, and have a tail spot blenny.
Is this algae I should be worried about or will it go away with time?
Thanks
Soooo this is my second saltwater tank. Only 6-7 months after joining this hobby, I am putting together a second and if it doesnt demonstrate how much of a hold this hobby has on me already, I dont know what does haha.
Well if you havent seen my 1st salwater tank you can find it here: Check out...
Some really expensive and rare corals and fish are included and everything is extremely healthy and happy (I have 20+ years experience in keeping marine fish and corals). This setup includes 2 (extremely custom) biocubes w stands, all livestock and lots of other misc equipment. Looking to sell...
