First ever saltwater tank and I am loving it! Picked up my tank a few months ago and so far so good! I have been making changes here and there to the tank and trying to upgrade all the stock equipment(recommendation much appreciated!). So far for the third chamber I removed first box and the...

Hello, Been having some trouble with my kole tang bullying or at least we think he is.) When we first put the kole tang it was fine but after awhile we couldn't find our Goby (paired with pistol shrimp) for a day we have lots of hiding spots so i figured I see the goby tomorrow. During the...

My cycle ended a couple of days ago on my tank, but I’m actually going out of town this Sunday and will be gone until next Saturday. Considering I have no live stock in the tank should I go ahead and implement my lighting schedule while I’m gone or no? I need some opinions on this matter because...

For those of us that spend thousands on reef tanks this may appear as a hobby for wealthy people or people with a near drug like addiction. I just to remind those of us who are new to the hobby and are exploring their options for getting into the hobby; that this hobby doesn't have to be...

Hey everyone! After over 2 decades of keeping freshwater planted tanks (which I still have and love), I finally decided to dive head first into the reef keeping hobby with my older 11 year old son. We’ve had our tank up and running for about 4 weeks now with live rock from our LFS (Red Sea MAX...

Hi all! New to the forum officially, but a long time lurker. I’m from Michigan but currently live in DC. I joined the hobby many years ago when I lived in Florida and had a 55 gallon reef tank. I was a grad student (in marine biology) and had very little money so I scraped by with some of the...

So, I want to get a stand for the IM 25 lagoon, but I don't want to get a plywood stand. I want something sturdy that can take the weight and make me feel like it won't collapse. The stand made for the tank itself is not exactly.... what I want lol, but I will buy it if necessary. I just thought...

I think I posted this In the wrong place previously so here it goes again So I'll be setting up (no time soon as the money for this tank has to be saved up with an emergency fund for malfunctions) a Lagoon 25 and I want programmable LEDs. I'll have corals and fish so I want something that will...

So, I read the supreme set up guide, as someone so kindly pointed out in another post of mine, but I still have questions lol. I like first-hand experience knowledge and I have been researching on my own, but I want to know from experienced reefers how to deal with these issues....so.... 1. If...

Just wanted to say hello. I can’t wait to learn from all of the experienced reefers on here

Hello everyone! I have a new tank, a little less than 2 months old and I’ve noticed this brown stuff growing in the back while pulling out any extra shrimp my fish didn’t eat. Is this a beginning stage of diatoms? What else should I expect if it is thanks for the help

This is my first reef tank and I have just began my cycle. The setup is fully stock but I plan on getting a i tank filter basket, and a power head in the near future. Do any other evo owners have stocking recommendations for my set up. Preferably beginner level fish and I am steering clear of...

Hi All, My name is Raj, Living in Michigan. New to aquariums. Physician by profession. I am really glad to find this forum. Started exploring aquariums after my daughter asked for a small fish tank. After multiple trips to local fish store, impressed with reef and salt water ecosystems and...

I posted this in the general forum and have received no replies so I’m trying this group (Sorry, if I’m doing this incorrectly.): This is my first post on R2R. I’m new to reefing. I have a 40b with LPS and softies—almost 6 mos old. Everything looks amazing! I’ve never really had trouble with...

This is my first post on R2R. I’m new to reefing. I have a 40b with LPS and softies—almost 6 mos old. Everything looks amazing! I’ve never really had trouble with any new corals. I wanted to try goniopora, and I found a tiny but gorgeous neon pink frag at my LFS. After paying WAY too much for a...

Hey everyone, I’m a new reefer that set up a 40g reef tank this January . Currently this system has been running for over 2 months. It is stocked with a pair of clowns and 2 cardinal fish. I put my first coral in which was the GSP shortly followed by the zoas. Today I received a order from TSA...

Hey, Reefers! I've been loosely following the Reefing scene for about 18 months. In our current apartment, it simply isn't feasible to purchase any sort of reefing set up. Later this year, I will be moving to the Saratoga area and will finally have the space for a small tank. I've watched...

Ever since I was a child I pretty much lived at the aquarium and thanks to pandemic I’ve been researching the hobby since September 2019 and have had a mentor to help me along my slew of questions (cc_reefkpr on Instagram, @Scubabum on R2R)! Back during the Black Friday sales, I decided to...

After a very large break, getting back into having a reef tank. In my previous experience, I had a smaller tank, and just used a simple siphon and two Home Depot buckets for water changes. For my new larger tank, I’m hoping there is a solution that doesn’t require me to drag 40g trash cans...

Just diving into the sw world. Can someone please explain why adding too many fish after the cycle can lead to a bacteria bloom and kill the fish? I just don’t understand the science behind it. Does the same thing happen to an established tank (say 6-12 months)? Does the same thing happen when...
