Do I have thousands of fireworms or Bristleworms?

Sorry for the lower quality videos, it’s hard to get a good video as they tend to hide whenever I pull my phone out. I started some tanks with maricultured rock from Florida. Everything was going great until members of my CUC randomly died and corals seemed to deteriorate, despite parameters...

Weird white spots/shells/eggs??? - not what you’d think

These 1/8 inch pure white shells/spots have been appearing in my reef for some time now. They typically disappear after a few weeks. They are on the glass, on rocks, on frag plugs, wherever. Never on actual corals or skeleton though. Any ideas?

    Pest on ACAN?

Are these 2 things on my ACAN pests? There's an odd bubble looking thing between heads, and a weird little polyp thing? This is first thing on the morning, heads are not fully opened up for the day yet so that's why they look closed. Just noticed those though. Bonus question, is this a pest on...

    Tips to "Frag" Zoanthid Colony?

Hey everyone, Just seeing if anyone has tips or a video tutorial on removing a zoa colony from a piece of rock. Like is there a way to gently peel them off? The piece of rock this colony is on is always getting covered in algae and has a few aptasia living in it, that's why I would like to get...

Are algae growing on live rock pests?

Hi all! I’m quite new to the reef tank world. So far I’ve kept a clownfish, favia coral and strombus snail on a 45 liter tank. All is well so far and water parameters are good. I’m now introducing a trochus snail, a skunk shrimp and a hammer coral. Different random algae has been growing on my...

Any tips on how to move coral to new system without transfer of pests?

I will likely be downsizing my reef tank at some point in the near future and setting up a fresh tank that isn’t as pest ridden. but I’d really like to be able to reuse my corals and any possible rock as well. My tank has it bad it has Horrible Aiptasia, Bubble algea, Bryopsis and I’m pretty...

    Yellow sponge nuisance (not pineapple)

Anybody have any input on removing or reducing this yellow sponge? Surprisingly very little info on it on the internet. I read someone say that it can take the calcium and carbonate from rock and cause it dissolve. Well, I have it on my dragon soul torch colony stalks and one day one stalk...

Coral shipment delayed advised not to dip

I’ve been searching the web on this and see a lot of info on the do or don’t dip. I have a newish tank build that I’ve been careful to not introduce especially - bristleworms, spinonid, vermetids, spaghetti worms and detritus worms to because my first tank is filled with that and I hate it. My...

Something small that eats flatworms effectively.

So I just bought a mushroom from my LFS, and I did my first reef dip. Before my second reef dip, I cut off the frag plug and saw that there were flatworms crawling off and out of the frag plug (2-3). There were two frag plugs stacked on top of each other and some of the worms came from in...

Hope everyone is doing well , just wanted to get your opinions. Torch getting eaten alive! Little muncher ID needed! Thanks

My favorite torch started to retract a bit recently, and after dark I shined a light on it to see these little critters. Gave it a good dip and moving it to the bottom of my sandbed to recover until I get it into a clean tank I'm starting. Does anyone know what these are? I don't have acropora...

    question on QT for flatworms

Welcome your thoughts/advice. I picked up a cleaner shrimp and psammacora frag at my LFS last weekend and put them in quarantine in a small (betta) tank in an abundance of caution: my nano has been running pest free for over two years and I'd like to keep it that way. I am now seeing what I am...

Rodent's of unusual size ... I don' think they exist.

I have been in the hobby for five years. I have been able to achieve good growth and color from both soft and hard corals (lps & sps). I was feeling pretty good about myself. Maybe a little cocky. I have never had a significant aquarium pest. I had aptasia and bristle worms. I researched...

    Pest 'Nem Questions

This is literally just to sate my curiosity because I like asking questions - I don't have aiptasia nor majano in my tank so I don't need help eradicating it. Anyway, I have a few pest 'nem questions! I know I could just google these, but I would rather ask people who are actually passionate...

Red Flatworms in Barebottom LPS tank?

Hello all, I have a 125 gallon LPS dominant barebottom reef tank. Recently I've started noticing some red flatworms (planaria) on my live rock and want to do something to combat them. They haven't been noticably affecting my corals, but I'm sure it would be better if I get rid of them. I've been...
