Hi everyone.
You may think what you’re about to read is crazy or a joke. Just hear me out and then let me know what you think.
One week ago I added a starry blenny to my mixed reef (took me 3 months to find one locally). Main purpose was for him to eat some random GHA. Not a big issue, just...
Is this stn or tissue die off due to shading?
It seems to be bleaching very slowely. Over the last few months.
Could it be due to how those spots are now shaded due to placement?
Thanks all,
Is there a way to stop/recover sps from STN? Got a stylo for like a month now, started to STN several days ago. Did my research, but wanted to know your guys opinions. Did couple extra water changes and AB+. Any suggestions?
Hello
I recently detected some acroporas with blenching from the base
Colud you identify if it are stn or maybe someone is eating my corals?
alk:7.3
Mg: 1250
Ca:500
pO4: .17
SPS tissue degradation and loss, whether its slow (STN) or fast (RTN) or associated with a brown gelatinous mass (BJS) are probably one of the more or even most frequently discussed topics here. A particular emphasis is given on the „help“ requests describing the fast peeling and patchy loss of...
So, I’ve determined through thoughtful negligence of not testing phosphates regularly that if you up your carbon dosing scheme you can identity which corals are already stressed or just sensitive because they will RTN like crazy!
cool ... not
After noticing that first montipora polyps would...
I haven’t had much success growing sticks.. things start off well for a few weeks and then slowly see tissue peeling away, algae growing on them, or white white white edges.. any idea?
parameters are in check:
1.025 salt
78.6 temp
Alk 7.7
Cal: 443
Phos 0.19
Nitrates: 4.77
Mag 1380
tank is less...
So I’ve been having trouble with sps having STN after about a week or two. I just received my test relays back and would love to see what people think would cause this. My alk, calc, mg are all super stable and alk fluctuates 8.7-8.5 daily.
Hi Everyone,
just got my test results in for the ICP. Need your help identifying what is out of whack in my tank so I can get it fixed.
Looks like I should dose some trace elements?
Aluminum at 41.26?
dealing with STN for a while on Acro, so would be great to nail it down
Hi everyone, need some help to ID what's going on here. Lost a few Acro to this.
Seems to be STN? Does the decay pattern suggest pest? I have not seen amy red bugs or AEFW, just have some pods crawling on it lol.
NITRATE - 2
Phosphate - reading zero, but pretty sure their a bit
ALK - 8.6...
Hi, I am starting to get into SPS and I just bought a frag from a local fish store. I just noticed white at the bottom and I am not sure what it is. I was hoping y’all could educate me. Thanks!
As you can see the JF Kamikazi on the bottom left is RTNing pretty fast noticed it about 3 days ago. I am going to cut it up. However, last night I noticed the monti was getting the white fuzzy almost fuzzy like spots. Is this also dying or is something eating it? I have been observing them for...
I made the rookie mistake of calibrating my refractometer using RODI, checked against LFS water to confirm no egregious slope errors.
Refractometer is the red sea unit. I've been reading up on it and seeing that it's incredibly finicky and prone to giving vastly different readings on the same...
Weve got four chalices in a mixed reef where everything else is doing okay to well. My acros are all starting to encrust, and we (meaning she) figured out where to place favias, lobos, favites, and a trachy without melting them.
These freaking chalices are all receding, though, and have been...
As said in the title, four corals are looking rough out of 18 total. A favia and favites, and a monti and acro.
The favia and the monti were placed too high, and turkey basted a little heavily while dealing with a brown algae bloom. Didnt look like cyano, I'm thinking it was diatoms or...
Hello!!
I would like share some pictures about my corals that are dying and my parameters in order to get feedback about it and if you have recommendations to save it.
I stat to see this condition since 2 weeks ago.
things that i changed
1.-increase the light because i was only used blue light...
Hi,
I've noticed the underside of my birdsnest bleaching out. Is this simply due to a potential lack of light or maybe something else? If it's STN then I guess I can refrag as needed, but what about lack of light? Is this just an inevitability as corals grow out?
Params are generally stable as...
My tank has been on a downward spiral for about three weeks. I posted in a few FB forums and the answers I received were related to the possibility of current in the tank from failing pump/heater, or magnets leaching aluminum. I wasn’t able to identify either of these issues in my tank.
Tank...
Alright, where to to begin. I have had a 80 gallon with a 30 gallon sump tank running for almost a year and a half after a restart. I got dry rock and dry sand, which is a mistake on my part, and I am on a fun roller coaster right now. Around 5 months into my restart things were going okay...
So lately I have been having an issue with STN/Tip burns, anyone have any suggestions? The highest my alk has ever been is 8.8. After seeing the tip burns I dropped it over the course of a week to 7.5 and have maintained that ever since (I have a Trident). I dose 20ml of Acropower every 3 days...
It hits some corals and others look like they love life. Tank is 2 years old. Over the past two months I had made changed to lights, replaced GFO, and removed one of two overflows. I run a skimmer, GFO, Cheato with a bright light, calcium reactor, 450 par on the top shelf and 100 on the floor...
There is a lot of talk about curing Rapid Tissue Necrosis (RTN) and Slow Tissue Necrosis (STN)Lately. How do people deal with it? In the comment section - please post how successful the treatment was - and why you used your particular method. Though it might have been better to allow people...
So if you haven't heard...Prime Coral has some impressive videos showing a parasite that's responsible for RTN and others that might be responsible for STN. This guy is from Florida and his name is Dr. Ara Deukmedjian. This Philaster parasite that he's captured on video eating acros sure fits...
Please...anybody with a microscope...join our battle in finding out all Parasites/Protozoa responsible. See thread below:

Ive had this rainbow montipora for a little over 2 mos. As you can see its almost covered the whole plug. However, in last 3 days this has shown up. Ive searched for nudis and not found any. This is my only montipora so i dont have reference. Other corals are doing better than ever. Even a favia...
