Additional Aquarium Information

What do you think are the keys to your success in reefing?
Patience
If you have fish, corals and cuc I would not do this because you would have them going into a setup that isn't cycled.
Id cycle it before hand.

I would really focus on finding out why your nutrients are out of control. If not, you will be back in the same boat after doing the 'complete rip clean', which I do not recommend by the way.
I have no fancy gadgets on my tank. I have lights, powerheads and a heater. I do have a Tunze Comline in tank filter that takes water from the surface, it is not a skimmer. I have filter floss in it. There is no skimmer, no sump, no controllers... I have NO algae in my tank. My liverock tub that I am curing rock in has a light and a powerhead and no algae in there either. I do have a large clump of macroalgae in the rock tub that I have to dose nitrate/phosphate or else the macro stops growing.
Bottom line, it is about husbandry. There isn't a single piece of equipment, a magic pill or additive that will replace quality live rock (I used TBS) and good husbandry.
My tank has been running for 9 months this way.... oh, and no water changes.
How would I find out what's causing the nutrient issues? My skimmer is off currently to process the rest of the fluanzacole and will be turned on soon. I personally feel like if I did a rock swap the tank would become easier to manage.

Good morning all

Found out after we got here that the baby couldn't be back here where treatment takes place. So she went home and will come back later. If we'd known I would have brought Weston or Simon

Lucky you. My sand bed just has so much crap in it. Its not dirty (on the surface that is). I do still want a sump, I just think itd help a lot with nutrient export since I haven't had success with the Tidal.
Do you 'vacuum' the sand bed during regular maintenance?

You can do a rock swap, but I would do a couple at a time, not all at once.

I've been told not to, most sand in my tank is unreachable that's why I want a rescape. I wanna take out half of my live rock but im not sure if its possible.

Mainly just wanna take a lot out and do a rescape.
If you plan on rescaping and putting some or all of them back in you could put them in a big tote with tank water a heater and a wave maker to keep from losing the good bacteria.

This is why I want a sump lol.
