I’m not familiar with a straw bale garden, do tell.

You condition straw bales with water and fertilizer for about 3 weeks and plant on top using potting soil to get the seeds/starts growing. We got more tomatoes that way than we ever got from our previous gardens. To be fair the soil here has a lot of clay. If we till straw bale gardens into the soil we it will build up the soil and we will eventually plant in the ground as well. These are not my garden. These are pics from the internet.

All y'all people cleaning your grills are a disgrace to BBQers and Meat Smokers across the country. The best and ONLY way to clean a grill is to preheat to temperature and then scrape with a brush, then brush with some fresh oil, then slap the meat/potatoes/(vegetables?) on the grates, smoke/cook until perfect, remove, brush with a brush against, reapply oil, and shutterdown.

I just cleaned mine about 2 weeks ago. Bought replacement flavorizer bars because the were probably 4-5 years old and pretty worn. but scraped the crud off and soaked my grates in PBW. But I'll try that out when I go to clean again.

I've actually never seen anyone else do it. We learned it from a book. The first time I tried it in Silverton it didn't work out too well, mostly because of neglect. Last year I did it because my oldest daughter wanted a garden badly. She was a much more diligent gardener than her old man, so....

Family, I wanted to recommend this product if you haven't tried it to clean the grill. I've had this BBQ for over 5 years.

Luis, I just got a new grill about a week ago. I love to grill, but that has always been my complaint about grills. The sanitation aspect. It always seemed like you just have to get it hot and pray lol. I will most definitely give this a try. Your grill looks brand new.

Talk about making a positive out of a negative. That is awesome.

yeah, height and intensity of light along with hours you can get some great results really fast. The plants need some darkness but I do full light for 18 hours. Light intensity increases and so does height over a month or 2 pending what I'm growing. Then when you want the stuff to fruit, full intensity but only 12 hours to start the late summer/fall progression. I have mold filters and fans as well as a heater for winter. Another benefit is no pests. I have a new oven now so I will not do this anymore but I used to place the soil in a large aluminum foil turkey roasting pan, wet it, cover with aluminum foil and cook in the oven at 200 for an hour to ensure all bugs/eggs were dead before using.

Haha. Ok in fairness, this grill has cast iron grates. I'm all about my cast iron. I feel about cast iron, how you feel about grills. Heat, wipe, wipe, oil, wipe.

it's great though because it is all biodegradable and back to the earth. not much to clean up if you no longer want the garden. I think potatoes would work great in these in colder climates.

If I ever get my lazy butt up, and build one it would definitely pay off. I love growing mushrooms and it takes intentional artificially produced sun cycles, humidity control, and temperature monitoring, just like our tanks, you know? We're smart enough to come up with a hybrid green/mycology house!

yeah, all the LFS stores around only have tiny ones right now. but they do grow. my pencils do not move around a lot but I did have a pincushion in there and haven't seen it for a very long time. would like to get a halloween or collector.
