Return pumps pumps a certain amount of gallons(we'll use 300 gallons per hour because its an easy number) so you size you overflow to handle 300 gallons per hour. Its basically a loop.

Essentially just make sure your overflow handles more flow than your return pump produces and keep overflow clean

The overflow is what prevents it from overflowing. The HOB style can overflow. If it loses its siphon. Thats the benefit of a drilled overflow vs hob style. Your only way around that is A) drilled B) a aquarium controller with a leak sensor to shut down your pump if it senses water C) maybe a drip tray thats set up to drain into your sump maybe?

Im sure my list of options wasnt an exhaustive list, but long story short, whether uncommon or not, overflows with HOB overflows arent entirely preventable. You just manage risk

Exactly, you get it! It’s kinda embarrassing since the other husbands don’t have to wear them but my wife explained to me it’s because their wives have large life insurance policies on them. It was so sweet when she told me if she had a really large life insurance policy on me she wouldn’t make me wear them but instead weights.

Aww, she plans on keeping you! My wife likes to leave the front door ajar, and every morning she yells my name before she closes it. She always seems disappointed when I yell back, Idk why. Maybe she wants me to close it? I do often get the urge to wander out the door, but she'd miss me.

It was actually pretty good. I still prefer the creaminess of the original and the ham flavor it has. But not bad for a “I don’t have anything that goes together well so let’s see what happens” meal lol.

Sometimes that's when you make the best meals! Lol
