What do you mean you haven’t fed the tank? You haven’t fed the fish at all or just not used reef roids?

I'm trying to decide when to start using roids or chili on my new tank as well. My acros and other sps have good polyp extension so I'm considering feeding them once a week to start

How are you going to decide when you want to start using it? What's stopping you from using it now?

I think my filtration is not mature enough. Plus, I am not happy with my skimmer. It’s overflowing every chance it got! [emoji15] i have to turn it off most of the time.

Why not both? I feed Reef Chili, Reef Roids, Coral Frenzy and ME Super Food.

I have both and plan on using them once my tank is stable. I'm just concerned about adding too many nutrients until the biological filtration is fully established. From what I've read the chili covers an greater crossection due to the different ingredients and the roids are more for feeders that like smaller food sources.

Is coraline growing in this tank for you yet? I think I see some on the rocks and back glass but I wanted to check anyway :)

Coraline growing here and there. But not much. Also the water is not crystal clear. I still see small particles flying around the tank.

What doser are you using with ESV?

I have Apex DOS.

I mix my dry coral foods together--a bit of each when I feed. Reef chili, reef roids, oyster fest and some goni powder for a gonipora I no longer have. I also add small particle frozen foods to the fish food so the coral can feed on those.

And I am not feed nor dose trace elements on this system because the Alk consumption right now is only 12 ml per day. It means they are not using much of the trace elements (so, I don’t have to test for trace elements to know. [emoji6]), they also don’t need extra energy from food.
Imagine this system is like my newborn baby, 2oz of milk every 2 hours is good enough for him. He doesn’t need steak to grow faster.[emoji5]

how do you normally stop small particles flying around?

I'd love the answer to this one as well!

Sorry for the late response. I was waiting to answer the question with the next update so the thread con be more concentrated.
Some people uses filter sock. But I imo, these particles are just unsettling detritus, very small chip of rocks break down form the scape,...Naturally with time, these detritus will settle down some place in tank and there will be no more flying particles.
So what I do is....wait. As long as the water is not cloudy, it’s good.
On the other hand, I am a lazy reefer, I always choose what is the simplest method that can deal with the problem. [emoji28]

Okay, my water is nice and clear. Just wish it didn't have "stuff". Some of that flying debris could also be pods floating around

Everything is doing great, those frags that introduced in the system in the beginning start to color up. So yes, growing and now coloring.
Sc orange passion, will soon become a mini colony!

The body suppose to be blue right? I haven’t seen the fully color up in person. [emoji848]
But as long as polyps are out, I wouldn’t worry.
