So I am setting up a 20g long brackish tank and I wanted to have mangroves coming out of the top of because I don’t have space for a taller tank that could be a paludarium and I read some information saying it is bad for evaporation to not have a lid so I was wondering what everyone thought!

thanks in advance

While evaporation would be increased in a lid-less tank, you can always top off the tank with some ro water. For a mangrove tank I think that the whole idea is to have the tank come out into the room, and a lid would get rid of that whole effect!

I agree with Newb. The top will help prevent evaporation which is good. But the mangroves are going to be sticking straight out of the top of your tank so a lid wouldn't work. An ATO would solve your evap problem.
