For what it's worth, this was my 20 gallon high..

Equiped with only a heater, 2 RW-4 power heads, and an Aquamax HOB-1 protein skimmer.

2 Osc. Clowns
1 Helfrechi Firefish
1 high-fin Red Banded Goby
1 Pistol Shrimp
1 Cleaner Shrimp

Awesome tank! Once I get some more money I'll get some coral. I've decided it's not worth upgrading for a bit because of the cost. I'll focus on my 20g for now, which is what's probably the smartest thing to do. I'm going to my LFS tomorrow and I'll pick up some new corals, fish, inverts, or maybe some small rocks to give hiding spots for different fish.

Man cmon let the kid get a fish! Buddy get a firefish! They are shy at first but after a few days he will come out more! Look I have my 13 here stocked with 8 fish! So the 4 fish crap in a 20 is full bs to me! I even skip on water changes. And they are all alive and well! They are all blennies! But anyway get a fire fish the cheap one save ur money and wait! You don't have much to wait! And you will be fine! Now for all the other reefers here telling this kid to wait and save money yes I agree but us teenagers love new things!
Hey everybody! I'm going to focus more on my nano reef. I don't have a lot of coral, and what I have are basically frags. I currently have 2 ocellaris clownfish and I want some more fish. I'd prefer some water column swimmers but the tanks size limits what I get. I'm also gonna upgrade to a 40g in a few months so it can act as a grow out. Any ideas? How would a pair of banggai cardinals do? Or a yellow jawfish? Could I do both? Any help is appreciated!

cardinals are pretty boring fish. They have these short bursts of speed when its feeding time then they just float almost motionless again. Have you thought about a flame hawkfish? They are pretty cool with lots of personality. Midas blenny is a pretty fun fish too.

I'm probably going to do that once I get some extra hiding spots. Thanks for your input!

I think the macro algae idea is brilliant. I decided to display my refugium along with my big tank because of the beautiful macros that are available and for you they are very inexpensive. It is defineately worth researching. Have fun son.

PS. Have you given any thought to mushrooms. There are many inexpensive beautiful mushrooms. They can add alot of color. Macros, mushrooms, kelp also. Make sure you let us see your progress. Good luck.

+1 on the macro idea. I've just started adding some to my system and it honestly looks great. I even got a playing variety because I'm to scared to try sps because I honestly hate dosing

Also I repeat this phrase to myself before i make any purchase for my tank "99% of the time, nothing good happens quickly in reef keeping" and I promise it will help

You know what I'm gonna use that! Wish I knew that before I bought 3 acro colonies. I should just bought one. Really at the this point I just want to sell one of them. And get a wd acro frag. But I won't get to much for it! Time to save!
