@HotRocks Today is day 14 of that first batch of fish being at full therapeutic copper. I'm going to be transferring them over to a second sterile/cycled/temp/salinity matching tank later today. Do you normally begin dosing GC/Prazi at this stage same day, or wait a day or so?

@Humblefish was talking about a more effective medication for deworming. Fenbendazole. it's more gentle on fish, and is a 12 hour "dip" I guess you'd say.

If you are interested, I can dig up the links for you.

I've personally had a lot of issues with Praziquantrel (PraziPro), and so have quite a few people I know. So much so that we've all stopped using it.

QT Update

QT tank 1 fish (Bellus Angel, orange-back fairy, long-fin fairy) have been moved to QT tank 2. This is a sterile tank. Will begin dosing GC into the WC tomorrow. I'm going to look at fenbendazole for the next batch of fish since I don't have it on hand.

QT tank 1 has had a 100% water change and been brought back up to 1ppm copper. I picked up the new fish for QT tank 1 today:

5 Lyretail Anthias (female)

Per @HotRocks I'll be dosing GC earlier than normal for anthias due to their common ailments. They are so pretty!

Looking good after acclimation! All eating. I also noticed that even though they meant to bag 6 lyretails, they accidentally bagged 5. I've already texted the LFS, it's all good, going to pick the 6th one up tomorrow. OOF.

Hard to tell. It seems fatter than a bristleworm and longer than a flat worm. Peanut worm, perhaps?

New video update!

I had way too much fun making this video, so please ignore my 90's style commercial in the middle. The basic tl;dr is I started dosing GLA KN03 mixed in at a 50g --> 500ml ratio. This mixture raises my nitrates 1.00ppm~ for every 15-20ml dosed.

I'm hoping that as I add more fish, I no longer have to dose nitrates or at least not to the same degree, but only time will tell.

QT Update

So of the 5 Lyretail Anthias I picked up, all are eating extremely well and exhibiting healthy behavior except for one. One anthias (the smallest one) has not eaten since Sunday. I have tried 5 different foods to no success:
  • Hikari Frozen Mysis
  • LRS Frenzy
  • Generic flake
  • Generic pellet (small)
  • Generic (different brand) pellet (large)
My guess is currently internal parasites, but I have nothing to base that on except experience. I have been feeding the fish GC+Focus since 2 days ago, but with the fish not eating I doubt it's having any positive effect. I'm not confident the small anthias will make it through the week.

So as predicted -- sadly -- the anthias who wasn't eating has passed. After visual inspection, I can't see any noticeable issues. I did a FW dip just to check for anything external and saw nothing come off the body.

Farewell, brave fish bro.

Going to visit my LFS today to pick up 2~ more Lyretails before I start bringing copper up. The other 4 have been eating very well, still looking healthy.

Alright.... a lot to cover but in few words.

QT Update
Instead of adding 2 more Lyretail Anthias, I added a female Bellus to keep my boi company. The plan was to begin raising copper after the Bellus started eating, but that stopped after I noticed marine velvet on the new addition:

DSC00249.jpg

I spoke with @Humblefish and was given great advice. Did a 5min FW dip in temp corrected RODI water and began bringing copper up from 1.00 to 1.500 within 24 hours.

The main issue I'm seeing right now is the Bellus (female) isn't eating. I've tried...
  • Frozen Mysis
  • Frozen Blood Worms
  • Live Brine Shrimp
  • Pellets/Flakes
I'm going to stop by and pick up a pack of frozen seafood (scallops/oysters/etc) and see if that works....

You can see about live black worms too, they are also a pretty good to entice fish. If you can find them, live white worms are also pretty good
