Sorry I haven't been around guys, it's been kind of crazy. I have questions for everybody, and some news. I've been at my job for 17 years, only job since high school. A year ago I was offered a job and just about left but changed my mind at the last minuet. Well they have came back and again I find myself seriously contemplating going for it. Question is that means moving my tank already. It will be coming with me to the new office, so it would be a tear down and put back together the same day. Trying to figure out if I do end up taking it, what would be the best way to go about. Do I just drain all the water and leave substrate and plants in? Or do I uproot them already and replant again?
Congrats on the new job!

I always leave substrate in the tank when I have the option.

There are some nice bacteria populations in your substrate that contribute to the stability of your system. I would want to protect those. The kind of plants you have and the amount of time they will be exposed to air would drive some of the decisions about pulling them or leaving them. They can be pretty delicate when out of water and some of the stalks might break. I think my priority would be to protect the root system and leave it all in tact. You can always trim back the broken pieces and dead leaves.

I use soil in my substrate and it makes things a little different than if I were just using specialized media.

I think you will be fine no matter what you choose. That is just the way I like to do things. Best of luck on your new Job!

1.) Sending clear and concise thinking regarding the decision you have in front of you about the offered job.
2.) If it were me, depending how far the move is, I would probably leave the tank 1/4 to 1/3 full for the move. But, as you already know, I'm a little bit goofy and occasionally take unnecessary risks just for the fun of it!

Thanks, I'll take any good vibes coming my way when it comes to deciding. The gut reaction is to go for it, I like the guys I'll be working with and know them through the community. However it always comes back to giving up 17 years of work. I would be third man down in the organizational chart in a growing company which would make for great opportunities down the line. Only people above me would be CEO and another guy I know, although I'm not sure what his title is.

I think that other guy's title would be, "2nd Guy In Charge." If you go there then, obviously, you'll be, "3rd Guy In Charge." ;Hilarious

Thank you for the enlightening revelation.......

They will be lucky to have someone with your track record. 17 years in the same job is really impressive! Obviously you can do work and are worth what they pay you. (Probably 30% more if your boss follows a conservative business model)

Wise words from my brother in law:
The difference between a good choice, and a right choice, is that the right choice is a good choice that you never looked back from. It is what you do each day that turns a good choice into the ongoing right choice.

Good choices, like your aquariums, can turn into the wrong choice if you don't problem solve and follow through. They can also turn into life breathing right choices when you treat them as such. Follow through, and see each challenge to the end.

Whatever you decide will be the right choice as long as you accept the challenges and believe that there is value in your ability to learn and grow.

Best of luck either way.

My two cents; Go for it! Risk, with experience always equals reward. It is great to have a chance to get a tased of your full potential.

Did my half yesterday....was rough. Rained and was 40 degrees and windy at start. Never got better...feet got soaked got big blister on bottom of right foot at 5 miles was still okay..mile 7 ish left foot tops of toes were getting rubbed raw...was still okay by mile 9 I still had a 16:00 mile pace but lost wind at 10 when I knew I had another 50 minutes to go... started getting nauseous about mile 11 finished out but had to slow way down feet were killing me and it changed my stride so now my calfs and quads were taking more abuse than normal..finished out with a 17:19 pace not my best outting...very sore today but at work.

While it may not have been your best outing, the effort and the desire to finish is very commendable! You set a goal, attained the goal and, in my book, that's always a win. It's the tough ones that build character and really let us know what we're made of. Proud of you for suiting up, showing up and finishing up!

I, on the other hand, have still been slacking. Feeling crappy about it and would like to blame "business" and the crap weather. Fact is I've just been lazy. Thank you for the inspiration to hit the reset button!

Good work!!!

Hows it going everybody!? Sorry I haven't been around, fishing trip, refinancing my home, switching jobs, life, just been busy and had a lot on my mind. Still in the middle of all that, except the fishing but its all settling out. Tank is looking great, trimming a couple times a week. Did one this morning and as normal the tank looks better after. I have lost a few guppies due to jumping but that's the only problem I have ran into. I have decided to try shrimp as well but will wait till after the tank is moved in the next couple of weeks.

Congratulations on the positive IRL stuff. Have you decided on what type(s) of shrimp you will get (e.g., neocaridina, caridina, or amano)?
