I really need to solidify my stocking list as the tank will likely be here this month. I welcome your guys feedback and suggestions on anything I’m missing or where you see issues. I’m thinking:

1 yellow tang
1 gem tang
1 purple tang
1 yellow belly blue hippo tang
my current two spot bristletooth tang
1 yellow eye Kole tang
1 foxface
lots of anthias (undecided but I do like Bartlett’s)
my two perculas
some wrasses like Halichoeres flasher/fairy wrasses that might not need sand
My six line wrasse unless he keeps being a jerk…
1 Midas blenny
an angel or two such as a majestic or a regal
Perhaps a quoyi parrotfish
Eventually a mandarin goby

Since I’m going bare bottom I’m looking for suggestions on wrasses. I love flashers but want some good swimming action too from the more Halichoeres wrasse type

Im going bare bottom as well and this is my wrasse list. I know Melanarus typically have sand, however I’ve seen many that I’m have thrived without it, as long as there are plenty of hiding spots in the rocks that they don’t have to fight over. Good luck!

Looks like I had Haliochoeres wrasse and sand beds backwards. I had just been reading on that! Thanks! Melanarus wrasse are a type of Haliochoerus but they take to BB okay?

Edit: reread and got it! Thanks.

This is a nice build already! Your success with the lagoon is unquestionable! I've got to find the thread for that one! I am starting a 25 lagoon myself but won't be going quite as ham on the SPS

Wow I am waiting for the exact same setup minus the bar area from CDA!. My setup will be very similar even dual cor20s, I will be using one for UV/Algae Scrubber to main display the other the main return. Also will be using x4-5 XR 30s! Good luck! I will be working on a build thread as well once I know of a ship date.

Looking forward to the thread! All my ideas are copied from more experienced reefers than myself hah! Got to see what I can copy from you :) 4-5 XR30s? Sounds like a balanced spread and bright! On that note I have been waiting for a deal to show up on XR15s since last fall. Lesson learned. None have happened and the price has gone up at least $30 a unit.

Ha I know the feeling that's why I bought all my equipment on the Black Friday deals they had in Nov everything is just sitting in the closet at the moment while I wait.

I heard back from Zoya today on a few things. First is the stand will weigh 450-480 lbs (same as the tank!!!) and the crate each will come in weight 150-180 lbs. I’m dead lol

Second is there are the first pics I’ve seen of the actual stand!!!!!

Still no pics of the tank even though I’ve been told it’s mostly built and they are working on the bracing but hopefully soon.

Quarantine prophylactic treatment is going well for the existing fish (clowns in 5g qt, two spot bristletooth tang and six line wrasse in 29g QT) and they’re through prazipro and are about to start copper power after they fatten up a bit again.

My fish stocking list I’m working on looks like:
Zebrasoma tangs
1 yellow tang
1 gem tang
1 purple tang
1 sailfin tang
oval bodied tangs:
1 yellow belly blue hippo tang
1 sohal tang
1 naso tang
bristletooth tangs:
my current two spot bristletooth tang
1 yellow eye Kole tang

Perhaps a foxface
lots of anthias (undecided which but I do like Bartlett’s, Lyretails and evansi)
my two perculas
some wrasses like flasher/fairy wrasses that might not need sand
My six line wrasse unless he keeps being a jerk…
1 Midas blenny
an angel or two such as a majestic or a regal
Perhaps a quoyi parrotfish
Eventually a mandarin goby

Is that too much for this tank?

This is my dream tank except in a peninsula configuration! I'm looking at upgrading from my sca 120 and 50 cube to a single cda 72x30x22or 24 high, haven't decided the height yet, in 2-3 years. I. Definitely following this thread! Looking great so far! I just added a bar area on the stand to my must have lists because of you!

Thanks! CDA gave me what I feel is a very reasonable price for the bar customization as well. This is the third they have built. The previous two were very fancy, one with a copper bar if I recall correctly.

Yes I’d say if you can go peninsula, do it! So much room is lost in not being able to see the back. I’d go wider than 30” though since you can access from either side for a dream tank, speaking from no experience ;)

The reason I'm going with 30 width is that it would fit perfectly between the window and the column where my 50 cube is on the right of the photo. I think I am past the multiple tanks stage and I'm definitely looking forward to just one tank. Even though it will be bigger than the other 2 combined, I think the maintenance will be less.

Gotcha. Yeah I am at four tanks right now including my three QTs, a perpetual coral QT and two fish QTs and can’t wait to stop doing four water changes at a time xD

I drove an insanely long day yesterday from Monterey to Oceanside and back which for you non-Californians is a metric boatload of miles. ;) I went down to CDA to look at the stand as it is nearing completion. I’m glad I did as I got to see the color in person and realized my custom color choice was a lot lighter than I had realized once you saw the full thing and even my own pictures standing in front of it didn’t capture that as the phone darkened it. Also saw an issue or two that are luckily easy to resolve and got to chat with Trent about how to take the tank from delivery to install with a lift table. They are still being slowed by supply issues, this time from stainless hinges. But after a couple fixes, and staining and finishing a sealant on the eurobracing it will be ready. Hopefully that means this month it will be coming. I took plenty of pics so enjoy! The tank on the stand isn’t mine btw; it was going to be but they just built a new one when they realized they forgot the cord holes in the eurobracing so it’s the one in the pics on the floor.

Woooo! Thanks @Bulk Reef Supply ! Just saved $450 on six Radion XR15 gen 5 blues. Worth the wait of about 6 months to get that savings. So the tank will be lit by 6 Radion Xr15 gen 5 blues and two 72” reef brite XHO actinics.

The tank and stand are built and the bar got epoxied but I am just waiting to confirm I like the look of the epoxy work enough to let it ship. So it should be very very soon! I have five banggai cardinals in quarantine and am removing the copper from my tang/clown/sixline wrasses QT system. The sixline will go back into the lagoon when it finishes the fallow to pick off the vermetid snails that have built up.
