That really turned out beautiful. Love that cabinet, it's too sexy to call it a stand and canopy.

Looks fantastic man!
Thank you much good sir!

That really turned out beautiful. Love that cabinet, it's too sexy to call it a stand and canopy.
Haha, nice! Henceforth I shall refer to it as the sexy cabinet.

Looks like it's coming along nicely!
Thanks Rob, btw I still have your calibrating fluid and can drop it by whenever is best. Thanks for letting me use it!

That's a great looking setup. Really liking the color of the stand and canopy.
Thanks David, we really tried to match it up with the kitchen cabinets since its in an open floor plan. I think we got dang close!

How much rock is tgat?
That is 150 lbs or so of Marco rock in the DT and I have about 75-100 lbs in the sump.

Very nice!!!
Thanks!!

Ha! I would highly recommend Dr. Tim's One and Only. It has the correct strains of bacteria for cycling. :) You can pickup an 8oz bottle on Amazon for about $23 shipped. Well worth it, IMO!

How about this heat wave?! Realized it had been a bit since an update. I'll preface it with saying I knowingly broke the cardinal rules of adding livestock to a new tank and will not be adding anything further for a good while.

Finally organized my sump

Finally got my apex! Who wants to have a setup party??

Added some tangs, chromis, and few hardy coral. Watching my params like a hawk and adjusting doing WC as needed. Everyone is fat and happy so far.

I'm thinking once we break double digits again, ha! I'm trying to figure out how I want to set everything up between the DT and the sump, including setting up some float switches on the breakout box which I am pretty clueless about. Lots of reading to be done! Let me know if I can be of any help on yours this weekend!

What are you thinking at the moment?

FWIW, we should be able to source a USB cable that's long enough, but its a little bit difficult to find because standard USB needs active circuitry to keep it working over long distances, but you can't use cables with active circuitry with the Apex because it doesn't use the USB standard. I think it may be cheapest and best to use multiple USB extension cables (Neptune says its good up to 200'). 15' cables at Monoprice are only $1.91 each, so that wouldn't be terribly expensive. http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030304&p_id=5435&seq=1&format=2

We can use an ethernet cable to carry the float switch signal. :)

Great question...right now I'm thinking of setting it up solely on the sump since the DT is on timers for the lights and a 7095 for the Tunze's.

For the sump I would put two heaters, skimmer, return, and reactor pump on the bar which would still leave 3 outlets for any future additions. I'm either going to run an ethernet from the office to the garage or get another wireless adapter for connectivity. I'm just wanting that float switch on the sump to shut off the return if something like a tennis ball gets lodged in my overflow drains :)

I figure having it set up solely on the sump might simplify life greatly. Am I missing anything??

I don't think you are, man. That sounds like it will work!

The only thing that would concern me is the possible difference in temp between the display and the sump. In my setup, I'm planning on putting a temp probe in the display as well as in my sump so I can compare the two. I may add a third one to my garage, also, but that one is just for the data geek in me to see how my tank temps react to garage temps. :D I think most people don't have issues with their sumps in their garages, I'm just paranoid, plus I need the inputs for water sensors. :)

Nice additions. Need a FTS to show how big those BIG TANGS actually look in the 240!

I say get the gaming adapter to run the Apex wireless so you can move it wherever you want down the road. You can talk to Jay about where he got his long USB cables from as he ordered his from somewhere other than Neptune.

I recommend Josh Davis for the Apex setup!
