I’ve always liked keeping multiple tangs in my systems usually in groupings of three or more. Just added 3 gems tangs together this week. So far so good but I figured I see if anyone has experience with multiple gems tangs in one tank? When I started in the hobby they were close to $5k per fish and they were always a treasure to see in person. Hard to get a photo of all three but he’s a couple shots. More to follow.

Wow O, how large is your tank? I have 4 purple tangs and 1 yellow eye kole after seeing a local LFS with 6 purple tangs in 1 tanks. Good luck on your Gems.

It’s 265 gallons. I’ve had it running for 7 years now and really started adding to the reef maybe 3 years ago. Here’s some more pics.
wow, this tank is incredible imo. amazing work.

if you could have given yourself one piece of advice 7 years ago regarding SPS, knowing all that you know now, what would it have been?

Are all your tangs kept in multiples or are only some kept in multiples?

Do you also several Rabbitfish yet - I see that scribbled ;)

Thank you! So far so good. I wanted to add 3-5 purples or yellows down the road. Letting everything settle for a couple months first.

Just some of the tangs. My achilles and powder blue would not be happy with their fellow kind in the system. Building a 500+ next year. Might try with that one.

Stability is key and be wary if you want to add maricultures. If you dont QT properly it will always catch up to you.

I've had 3 in my 240 for several years, largest being 7". They always got along with the yellow tangs and a purple. Unfortunatly, I lost one of them a few months back.

Nice! I have 9 now in QT for my 1,100 gallon that’s just getting started. Should be fun to see them all interact.
