Hey everyone ive seen a few posts about my tank but im not quite sure which lighting to go for im torn between a black box. Or something like an ai prime any ideas?

Have a black box . Works pretty good . Keeping anemones alive and happy , do not have any corals yet so can’t chime in there .

I figured a black box would be better since the awkward size and better pricing on those instead of 32 HD and kessil lights im used to rectangle tanks but i wanted something different and eyecatching for my new first reef after changing the idea a few times lol

I like my black box , it’s 300 watts , bright as hell , and cost me a little over $100 .

I would like to borrow a PAR meter and see what I’m actually getting .

I would say depend on your plans . If you’re ok with upgrading in a year or so when your tank is mature and you are ready for corals go with a black box . That’s my plan - in my opinion why waste the hours of an expensive light on a new tank with nothing in it .

You can’t go wrong on a black box if you want to save money or on a budget. If you want to spend more , there are plenty of options.

Well i definitely want my light to be able to grow sps for down the road and i was looking at the hydra 32 hd just not sure if itll illuminate 20x20 effectively

Red Sea Reefled90 has 24*24 spread would be ideal.
Went with the red sea 50 20x20 spread my zoas love it finally built the entire setup
