Larger water changes will not hurt. A two day blackout will not hurt. Light and excess nutrients will fuel the bloom. The idea here is to remove the light and excess food, as well as the mass of dead cells that will be the result of the UV.

The UV you added should take care of the cloudy/green water in a day or two stop dosing get perameters baselined and repeatable. recommend 10 to 15 percent weekly water changes don’t worry about the uglies right now. Invest in a good high quality turkey baster and some good soft, medium, and firm tooth brushes clean rocks and sandbed daily until tank matures. Recommend All for reef if you can’t stabilize Alk because it is a simple way to dose you can put it on a single head Doser. I recommend Hanna checkers for Alk, Phos And nitrate learn how to use them. Test your tank often until your use too testing and know your tank. Test Alk daily and phos and nitrate at least once or twice a week.

Getting better it appears...

Tank was doing great and now is a compelete green mess. Approx 4 months old, 2 clowns, 4 damsels, sand sifting goby, sand sifting star, some crabs and a few LPS corals. I did add a bottle of mixed copepods to the sump and 1 to the display and was dosing plyoplankton, reef roids and Red Sea AB+.

75 Gallons and 3 gallon dump with protein skimmer and filter sock.

Just dosed 10mil of Hydrogen Peroxide and added a 25w UV sterilzier within last 24hrs...

I have not done a water change....should I??

Holy cow that looks like my tank if i dosed a whole bottle of ab+ at once. You have a algea bloom. Uv sterilizer will blast them to smithereens in a couple days thats all you can really. Algea will probably outgrow doing water changes and besides youll just be giving it fresher water. Turn lights off and add uv and feed less and do water changes
