Are you dosing or just relying on water changes ? I’m currently running a 40 breeder HOB tidal 55 lol really like your scape tooThe new phonto v2+ light has promoted much better color and can tell a difference !!

I do reef plus and reef trace on alternate days and as of recent I’ve been paying more attention to alk. Mine up until a month ago was 7.4. So I got reef carbonate and started dosing that every 3rd day. It is now 9.4. Everything has been much brighter and opened more!

Target fed everything today and then followed up with a 4 gallon water change. My nitrates went from 18.9 to 16.9. After a battle of nitrates from vacuuming the whole sandbed (rookie mistake) I’m very pleased with 16.9 lol

Also I like your scape! That rock is going to look awesome with the zoas ! My next purchases will for sure be a torch and teal Aussie hammer!

What route are you going to use to battle the cyano? I am seeing some in my tank also.
Added rock flowers! Lowered phosphates to .03 and now having cyano problems! Working on it now !

Currently using microbactor 7. It cleaned everything I had last time in a week, GHA and any other type of algae was gone. If it doesn’t work I’ve been reading that microbacter clean will do the trick. Or you can always go the 3 days no lights route and less feeding but that’s worries me for all of the corals

Added my favorite bright green ricordea today and some new bright zoas and a sweet purple ricordea
now to let this baby grow for a few months before another coral. Have noticed I’m having to dose alkalinity 2 times a week to maintain 8-9dkh. I suspect I’ll need to dose some calcium this weekend if I don’t do a water change. And being that I’m at 13 nitrates and 35.6ppm salinity it’s not looking like I’ll need to do a water change this weekend which usually keeps my cal and mag high. Have read more into microbacter clean , however I believe the MB7 is bottoming out myPhosphates which is ticking my hammers off. So for now ill monitor the possible cyano and see if the hammers come become happy again. Worst case I’ll do the 3 day blackout before I try another chemical. Also plan to add 3 more
Snails this weekend to help with the little algae growing on the live rock. Will update as I go.

Water changes almost everyday this week up to 5 gallons removing cyano from the sandbed and rock work. Also have had to use a turkey baster and blow off all the zoas twice a day. Added 3 air stones this morning, added a powerhead and pointed it to the surface, removed the carbon and turned off the UV. I’ll post results as it proceeds. I probably went overboard on the surface agitation and oxygen but I don’t want to lose any fish or corals. Have 10 gallons of rodi water on standby and ph buffer just in case. Worst case all fish can be moved into the 20 gallon until the water is changed and carbon/uv put back into use. 30 mins in and the cyano is already just melting off the back glass and some of the rock.

You using a chemi clean for the cyano? I keep it on hand. I have had good luck with it. I have to dose twice to get rid of it though. Seems about once a year I have a bit of red slime show up in my 40b. Tank looks good!

Yes I’m using chemiclean! So far so good. I’m 13 hours in! Fish are great ! Corals are doing good! Maintaining a ph of 8.3 right now.

My tank and sump together are about 60 gallons. I run the first treatment then I do a 10 gallon water change siphoning out any remaining that I see. Then I treat again. If you think the first treatment did the job though you can hold off on the second treatment.

First treatment definitely didn’t do the job, and I did a 10 gallon change after, however I didn’t jump into the 2nd dose because my hammers were super stressed. Any suggestions? Have since cleaned hammers and moved them to the other tank. Thinking of starting another dose in the morning
