What are the first fish/corals you plan to qt?
I want to try to get the more timid fish in first before adding Tangs and Angels. There’s a tank that I always see on FB that has a big group of chromis with a few angels in his SPS system, and it looks amazing!
I thought they might be a good way to start introducing fish, and maybe a type of boss fish that will keep them from killing eachother off.

I want to have a few gobies or blennies that add some variety to the tank, and would like to get the small or more shy fish in fairly early and get them established without any bullies.
I have been wanting a pair of captive bred mandarins, but I wonder how they would fair in a bigger tank where it may be harder to find pellets and other food? Anyone have any experience with them in bigger tanks?

I have a 350 gallon and unfortunately have had no luck with them. I do have a lawnmower and a scooter blenny that are awesome

I have biota mandarins. They come tiny!! Got then I’m September and still too small for my 290. I feed them 2-3 times a day and they have grown a lot. But I would lose them in the main tank.

That’s what I’m worried about too. That’s great that they’re growing so fast though!

I ordered some lids for the tank a couple months ago from @Top_Lids in Florida. This tank was a little different with that clear cover across the front of the tank that the sea-swirls sit on, and they made sure to get the cut right in the front screen so it fit well. Petty happy with how they turned out! They also made the overflow cover, and the feeder cup

The tank is here and in place!
It was a little more tricky than we anticipated, but with the help of a few more guys (7 total), we got it in place. This thing is heavy! Haha. Since I was carrying the tank in, I wasn’t able to get any pictures of the process. But here’s some of it in the van, and then on the stand

Who built the tank? Is the overflow apart of the back glass? Or is there an internal component?

I ordered it through my LFS, but I believe it is a Planet tank. The overflow box is made out of acrylic, and it looks like they used some type of black vinyl to block out the view on the glass on the back wall of the tank and the overflow.

Can't wait to see this with fish in it? Looking good.

How are you liking the sump so far? I'm thinking about replacing my existing one with on similar to yours.

I bought a group of 15 green chromis that came in to my LFS from Fiji. I was hoping that being sourced from Fiji that I would have better luck with them not having Uronema. Unfortunately, not the case. After watching them for about a week or so, 3 of them developed red soars, and began to have labored breathing.

After reading many threads on dealing with the issue, I wanted to have meds on hand to deal with this common issue. I bought a gram scale from Amazon, and some chloriquine phosphate.

I also came across this article on humblefish’s site about a new treatment method for fish that already have sores developed.

Last night I finished their 3rd dip in Melafix (freshwater version), and overall they did really well. I lost one fish after the first dip. The red sores on the others seem to be gone now. I plan to let them settle back in now for a few days, and then begin treating with CP.

I got home tonight and one more chromis had died. The rest ate really well and looked pretty good overall. I did a 50% water change and will continue to monitor them for another couple days before starting CP.

It’s been a couple months since I last updated, so I figured it’s time to post.

The main display has been fallow now for over 80 days(since some inverts were introduced), and is ready for qt’d fish.

The tank with the PBT and Blotchy has been through 30+ days of Coppersafe, a round of Kanaplex due to the Powder Blue getting an eye infection (cleared right up with Kana), 2 rounds of Prazi, and one round of General Cure. I am planning on introducing them into the display this weekend after a little more observation.

The tank with the yellow and purple tangs had Coppersafe in it, but it dipped to 1.90 on my Hannah tester, so I am starting over with them and their qt.

The display is teaming with pods all over the rocks and has began growing coraline algae on the rocks and power heads. I’m excited to get some fish in there soon!

More to come!
