After building a 90 gal reef, a 39 gal softie / annenome cube, and a 65 gal FOWLR, I decided I would try a nano.
I got a great deal on a used Fluval Edve 6 gal with out the light.
The first thing was to solve the lighting issue. I bought a new in the box never used IM Skkye 8 LED from a local club member. He never used it and I got it for a song.

The next thing was to figure out a method to mount the light and still keep the hood.

This is what I came up with:
First was to cut the back off the hood and trim it so it would just cover the filter:

I had to cut notches in the front panel of the hood to accept the rim:

Next 1/4" black acrylic to cover the now open back of the hood:

Attaching the light to the back of the modded hood was a matter of finding the sweet spot where there were no shadow lines showing inside the tank with the lights on, then glueing the IM clamp on to the new acrylic rear panel of the hood:

Shadow lines outside the tank:

I added some sand from the refugium in the reef system and added new substrate on top of that along with some rock rubble, at least thats what it was in the sump, for a quick aquascape.
