Nitrates? Waterflow?
Flow is good. Not sure on nitrates. I haven't tested them yet and I'm not at home. I've got to check everything. Calcium/Magnesium/Alk would be my guess, but it could be nitrates.

If gonis are doing good, but sps are having issues. I guess it could still be a few problems. If the params are fine, watch for pests. You never know until you catch them in the act.

You running carbon?

Okay, something I did back when I lived in las cruces, I only used de-chlorinated water.

The vinegar should lower ph. Don't worry!! It does not hurt alk levels. Vinegar dosing is another way of feeding filter feeders and coral.

Even randy doesn't speak against vinegar dosing. This could help you

Please, when you get time. Read the thread and article.

I had my nitrates go to an unreadable status on the hannah and I started doing carbon dosing and it is coming down about 5-6 a week. I could probably go a little faster if I wanted but this is great. Yes, it has lowered my PH by a little

My pH can go down without any problems. It would probably actually help my alkalinity balancing act. I'm at an 8.6+

It looks like my nitrates went up. . guessing it was due to an algae die off. I treated the tank a couple of weeks ago for bryopsis so I haven't done any water changes in about a month. The algae is going away pretty decently which means it has to go somewhere. I'm guessing it converted into nitrate. Also though algae does decent nutrient uptake so as it's dying off it's releasing but at the same time it's not uptaking as much.

I was guessing high nitrates or pest. Montis don't care for anything over 30 really. With high enough alk, I think you can get away at 50. I don't recall my systems old numbers. It's been too many years.

As long as there is visible tissue, the monti should bounce back. Unless infected..

Well, I think I found the stupid problem! My algae scraper magnet appears to have been rusting so it was leaching into the tank. I removed that and everything appears to be happier I lost a bunch of stuff - mainly just montis - but everything that's alive seems to have stopped receding and is coming back. I fragged the Bubblegum digi and put it in the 125 and it appears to be healing. I fragged the spongodes digi twice and both of them appear to be healing and even growing! The Tubbs Stellata is a goner. My Cherry Tree appears to be recovering slowly. The best part is within a week of removing that stupid thing almost all of my hair algae or bryopsis disappeared! It must have been keeping the Reef Flux from being effective.

So the algae has almost completely gone away while I was gone. The stupid magnet leaching caused a nasty algae outbreak AND killed several of my corals? It's crazy that the alveopora and gonis did fine while the montis nearly all died.

So the montis seem to have stopped receding. I originally thought it was Monti Nudis because of the pattern, but it stopped (mostly) when I removed the magnet. This TSA Mystic Sunset, two of my SBB montis, and a Green Cap are partially left. My Bubblegum Digitata might come back. I also was able to save two smallish frags of the Spongodes and they're in the 125. Both have healed nicely and one has started showing significant growth so I'm hopeful for them. All 3 of my Spongodes colonies in the 75 are skeletons. I left them in there just in case.

Total losses include MASSIVE amount of Red Cap (6 frags and an 8" colony), three Green Caps (2 frags and a 5" colony), Cherry Tree frag (almost 3"), Birdsnest mini colony, Tyree Rainbow Monti, Beach Bum Monti, Rainbow Stylo, 3 Spongodes colonies, Mystic Sunset frag, all of my Micromussa (12 or 15 heads across 6 frags), 2 Bubblegum Digitata frags (hopefully the colony survives), JKR Fascination Favia, JKR Top Fuel Favia, JF Fender Bender Cyphastrea, JF Master PPE Cyphastrea, Electric Grape Monti, and two hammers.

So my Setosa and shrooms are doing good. The gonis and Alves exploded I swear! All my fish are looking good. My Duncan is happy, my Electric Daisy Stylo is great and growing! My Burning Banana and Sunset Stylo may not make it. One of my Reverse Prism Favia is changing colors and seems to be growing and the other one is fat and fluffy. My Red Brick Cyphastrea is spreading and encrusting like crazy. The Blasto is doing good but not growing - healthy looking though. The montis seem to have slowed down but still may be receding...

I was just looking in the tank - the Top Fuel Favia may not be a complete goner! It looks like there is a mouth or two hiding down on a back corner of the skeleton. It's been this bad once before and came back so I'm hopeful!!!
