nicely done! When you drilled the tank, did you set the drill on rails, turn on the drill and just let it run itself? If so, what did you use as a stopper so the drill didn't slam into the glass and shatter it?

Thanks still a work in progress but atleast its WET now!
@saltnewb For the drilling I set up on the guide started the trickle of water and let the weight of the drill come down to slowly grind away at the glass. The first hole I took it really easy because I was nervous but after 25mins of drilling I was only half way through. Granted it is a rimless tank so the glass is thick. The first hole took 40mins to get through. The next 3 took about 15-20mins each after I realize a little pressure on glass this thick wont bother it. As far as a stopper the drill guide came with a little stopper on the rail you could adjust. I did get some chipping on the return hole because I pushed a little when it got close to the end. If you let the drill weight do all the work at right before it started to come through you wont get chipping and if you get tired dont rush just come back the next day or something its not worth rushing at all.

@Garrett W. I just got done looking at your thread. Nice job with the stand.
I was going to do a custom stand bu t ended up keeping the basic Deep blue stand since the sump wasn't going underneath it.
What I really wanted to do is make a stand our of 80/20.net aluminum, but I only ended up making the sump stand out of it.

Check this video of the 80/20 stand.

Forgot to add that when I bought the 80 it was a reef ready with an overflow in the corner. I cut it out and left about 3in of it at the bottom so I didn't mess up the silicone and it is going to serve another purpose. I want to have a tube anemone and due to there deep sand bed requirement I now have a 3in sand bed in the corner without having a deep sand bed throughout my tank.

Hello, I want to start by saying I love your build so far! Looks amazing. I am on upgrading soon and wanted to use the 80 gallon rimless until I was informed by the manufacturer and 2 retailers that these aquariums are tempered and cannot be drilled. How did you get around this?

I think and I could be wrong but only the bottom glass is tempered

Could have left it higher and had a mini corner dropoff in the corner!

Thanks everyone! and I love to see all the other 80's out there. When I starting the build I couldn't find a lot for aquascape ideas.

@Drs2140 so I found a used reef ready 80 Deep Blue and the Reef Ready one is only tempered on the bottom panel. I am glad you brought this up because when I move I planned to buy the basic 80 Deep Blue so I could drill it. On their website the basic 80 is tempered all the way around so it looks like I will be getting a custom tank next time. I cut out the corner overflow and it has a purpose now but i know its there to it bothers me haha.
check the link above that XocyrusX share. I did find a local custom glass tank builder that was around the same price as an online Deep Blue seller.

@XocyrusX do you have a build thread? I like your set up and I plan on doing a 80/20 stand next time. Did you just have supports in the corners or multiple?

@jp_75 As far as fish go I think this is what I am sticking to;
Yellow Tang
Midnight clown pair
Green Chromis x5
scooter blenny
algae blenny
sixline wrasse (not 100% sure about the wrasse yet)
Keeping the livestock super simple and focusing on the coral.

I have Zoa garden started, orange ricordea garden started, Euphyllia garden started, and classic GSP.
So I was going to stick with a softy and LPS tank but after putting radions and MP40's on the tank I figured what the heck I will give SPS a try. Now I have a Green Slimmer, Red Planet, and Birds of Paradise seriatopora.

Pictures soon. I just picked up the euphyllia yesterday waiting for it adjust.

After a week of vacation I came back and got a hook up from someone who was breaking down his tank. Here is an update of what is going on.
