9g Nano Anemone Build

Tagging along. I have an 8g nano I haven't filled yet.
I'm thinking of the noopsyche mini also but i have 3 Gen 4 xr15s so I may just use one of them dialed way down. I have no idea what my stocking will be yet. I have a young pair of black ocellaris in a basement 40g breeder so I may try them and a nem.
I run 6 noopsyche K7 III pros over my 330g that were over my old 180g. The lights sre solid but the app isn't the best I've used. Wi-Fi is pretty useless on mine so I just connect directly to the lights using AP mode and it works decent enough.

what dimensions are your 330 if you dont mind me asking? my 300 is 96x30 x 24 and in the end plan on either 4x k7 pro vIII with led bars to suplement or 8 x k7 pro III total.

Mine is a WB 330.7 84x30x25" in my tank thread. I don't have a blanket of light but I only have a few SPS. I par tested the K7s against my Gen4 XR15s and the noops made the radions look pathetic.
I originally had them over this 180g and with the two closer together on the left i was getting 300 par on the sand bed where I kept clams.

This acro i glued to the back wall grew from a little frag under the noops. They're pretty capable lights for the price.

nice. i like them. i replaced my 3x g4 radion xr30 pros with the older used noops mentioned above. i see no difference in growth except in my wallet. i had a xr30 die and picked up the 4 noops i have now used for $175 shipped. sold my old g4s and could have bought 6 new k7s. but funds went into other items for the tank.

i am buying 5 used k7 v3 pros used from a local and 1 of the v2 pros will go above my 13.5 and the two v3s will go above my frag tank i plan to set up

I'm excited to get it and start playing with the settings. Cutting my light budget basically down to a 1/3 is already a huge plus.

what are you doing for rock / sand?
for my 13.5 I am thinking of ordering from Gulf live rock. I have never used them but lots of great reviews. They do 5lbs live rock and 5 lbs live sand for $75+ shipping.
Then pull 5-10 more lbs of rock from my current 300 and maybe 10 more lbs sand.

a thing of pods and some Bacteria and be good to go with instant tank

The sand I took from an old break down. I had a 15g column which I, upgraded to what is now my 27. I did new caribsea course in the bigger tank so had the 15g's old sand (and rubble rock) laying around.

Before realizing I had all this extra rock laying around, I was thinking something standard like Caribsea LifeRock stuff. That Premium Deco Gulf Live Rock is AWESOME. Not that terrible $/lb either . Definitely good to know for future builds.

I'm going to have one chamber of my AIO be cheato and maybe a pod hotel if it fits

Yea. I have probably 150 lbs of rock in my current system and another 100lbs curing that I can pulled a couple pieces from but really want to try out the gulf rock for the 13.5.

Also have a 45g frag tank to set up here soon

If all goes well I may save Pennie’s and ad 50lbs of it to my big tank one day

I might also take a rock or two from my bigger systems to help seed everything and hopefully avoid any ugly stage. I have 0 algae issues aside standard glass scraping in those, so some of the rock and water will have this tank cycled pretty quickly.

Gulf live rock send theirs in wet paper towels. Tampa bay sends theirs submerged in saltwater.

I would not get either bacteria or pods if ordering live rock as it will come with both already.

Update: The tank is filled and running
Some photos attached, but a quick summary of the weekend.

1. Blocked the bottom manifold with some an acrylic plate. It's not perfect since I couldn't really make sure the seams were fully caulked. It's also held up with a dense foam/sponge.

2. Worked on the hardscape but there's definitely room for improvement. I didn't want the column on the right feel too big, but feels like it's lacking... I'll probably pull the left forward a little bit to feel bigger in the space and that will be my GSP candidate to help cover some of the ugly rock seams.
For the small cave to the back right, I'm going to add a bigger piece of rock from one of my other tanks to add some more depth. Hoping it will make an appealing hitching post for a nem. I also placed a few small rocks in the foreground of the sand so they can start cycling. Still going to play around with it a bit, and any recommendations on improving the scape are welcome!

3. Equipment: The last photo shows the back chambers (which I overfilled when I took the pic). I have the ATO (Useek AT-200), Hygger 8W Light (red night light for some cheato), Hygger 50w Heater and the AI Axis20. Also in the AIO are about a dozen ceramic bio balls to help with filtration. Also has the stock lid/light on just for the time being. The NooPsyche K7 Mini is supposed to deliver this Friday which will help make this look a lot better.

Hope to have some better photos with the new light and after I clean the glass.

Update: Loving the Noo-Psyche K7 Mini light, but it is way too blue post a photo of. Will send updates after I get a filter lens and adjust the scape a bit.

So far it's great, but the controls are a little confusing to figure out the first time. Definitely helps to watch some instruction videos and go through other threads here of people troubleshooting (https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/new-noo-psyche-k7-mini-settings.972580/)

So far everything is running smooth. I have an order from Algae Barn coming Wednesday with Fritz TS, Pods to get the cycle going. Also have Cheato coming for the back chamber.

Will add cuc as algae develops, but now we play the waiting game for a while.

What's up reefers,

Starting a new nano anemone build with the goal in mind being a sunburst anemone, and a zoa or shroom rock after its settled in.

The tank is an old Fluval Flex 9 that i'm upgrading with some other equipment gathered over the years. Filled it up last night and there are no leaks so we're in business. Pictures and notes of the modifications to follow.

A couple questions i've had going through my mind:

1. Filter/Pump: Does anyone have experience/recommendations when it comes to an AI Axis20 pump. I got it on sale a little bit ago and aside from testing it out, haven't fully used it. Seems like reviews are mixed, but hoping having it on 40-70% doesn't cause any issues.

2. Stocking: If this is going to be a proper nem tank, it needs a clownfish. I'm between a solo Maroon (that I would rehome from my 27g), or a pair of designer occies. I feel like I know the answer, but is 9g too small for a maroon?

3. Lighting: The light is the only thing I don't have at this point, but I plan to us an AI Prime HD16 from the same 27g mentioned above. The 27g would get an upgrade - or I just get another Prime. Any recommendations on fixture height for ~11" water level?

4. General Nem Care: While i've kept nems before, it's never been in nano tank. Aside from general advice (water changes/husbandy) are there any specific suggestions when it comes to anemone care in a nano tank? I currently have some rock flowers in the 27g that are doing well, and I don't do anything special aside target feeding.

Looking forward to getting this one started, and any notes would be greatly appreciated!

What % have you been running your Axis at?
Since I don't have anything in the tank, mine is currently on 70-75% and it looks like a decent flow rate.

With mobius, it's set to 55% during day and 20% at night. You'll know when it's too much when they start hiding in the rocks. Same with lighting.

Added video for reference. I am pointing the return nozzle to the top for aeration. You want the anemone to sway lightly in the flow to maintain bubbles. Otherwise they will be stringy.

Nice - yeah, I have the main return nozzle pointing upward similarly. Will adjust the flow after I get something in there and can really see how it's affecting things. For now I mainly had it turned up to clear up cloudiness. With Fritz and Pods coming tomorrow I'll probably drop it down to 30%.

I'm really liking the Axis20 so far, and it's actually whisper quiet.

Looks good. I am not a huge fan of the heavy blue, I am still stuck missing my 14K MH days.
App/controllers are definitely wonky on the Noops but the lights are nice! I get them set where I like them and I don't mess with it. I am about to set back up my 13.5 fluval and have to spare lights sitting on the shelf and undecided if i want to put a noop k7 v3 or a Nicrew 100w over it. the stock light is over my Fuge in my big tank

if you prefer white, look at the reef breeders nano or pico. I prefer blue but could NOT control the spectrum so it's just white. Another choice is the Nicrew pico light, you can turn on white, blue and white/blue spectrum on it.
