Has anyone used these reagents from www.abcreagents.com for their trident?

Supposedly they work just like the Neptune reagents but obviously they are much cheaper.

If people have any experience with these, please comment. If they work well, this will definitely be a game changer!

I do not know if they are any good, but I do not support the company as the principle person was on here, and IMO, lacks ethics and integrity. He threatened to sue REEF2REEF over members posting already public info about him.

Can you share anything about this? Reference post? I’m interested.

Yeah same here: need reagents , following…..
… as for the “back story” …missed it, and hope it isn’t a repeat of the “Vibrant saga” :anguished-face:

My take away was when ABC became known, there was a campaign to discredit and silence this product. The speculation was that a sponsor on this site pushed hard to have topics on ABC removed.

Back story, as I understand it is that Jim Welsh (the inventor of trident) only recieves royalties on the sale of reagents. He hung his hat on the complexity of the reagents and it being difficult to reverse engineer.

Based on the interaction I witnessed, the ABC guy is a bit of a hot head and underdog and was using the tools at his disposal to create a level playing field.

Perhaps a bit of overplaying his hand but not my place to say.

As for it being unethical and lacking integrity, I don't know, thats for individuals to decide. It can also be construed as competitive.

Just to be clear, my concerns have nothing to do with trying to compete with a sponsor. I have no qualms about anyone doing that.

…. The Trident business model could be analogous to Inkjet printers: the initial outlay isn’t all the bad but they are elbow deep in you when buying the cartridges
anyway….
slightly related and small “left turn” but….
I’m surprised the trident didn’t go the ole “ subscription model” thing; you know where you get a 1 month “ free trial” with your card “ on file” and you can “ cancel at anytime” provided you wait 4 hrs on hold and wade through 20 layers of a automated phone menu ….

I have not used it but know others who do. They like it because it’s more accurate between batches than Neptune and cheaper. Almost positive it doesn’t come with calibration fluid as they all calibrate off the tank water

I used two times, but always have problem with "Test A failed ", when I changed to original reagent, problem solved
I do know last year there was a batch of reagent A that came in over concentrated and was causing that issue. It was an easy fix to dilute by adding 1:1 RODI. They offered to take them back, but it ended up just giving me double the amount I had paid for. The owner even sent me an extra set of reagents B&C for free when I placed my next order. I have had no issue with the performance of the reagents. I’m probably going to do the 30 month concentrate next time I order since I’ll be running 2 tridents here soon.

I use ABC. I don't see any difference except in price. Save your old Neptune bottles. As posted above ABC bottles don't fit in the Trident.
