Pick up some new corals today, floated them for 20 mins and started them on a drop. The water I have them acclimating in is 5 degrees colder than my tank temp. Will it put them in shock if I put them in?

The drip acclimate should help equalize temperatures I would think.

Not sure how much of a temperature difference coral can handle.

Just put them in a container and float it to bring the temp up and you should be fine.

This is a bit late, but I drop the frag-bagged in to the sump for no less then 1 hour. figure most frags are shipped for 1 to 2 days in the same conditions and do well. Put the frag at the bottom and acclimate the frags to the light.

I've never done it, but I've heard of some hobbyists drip acclimating their corals when there is a difference of alkalinity say 10 dkh in the bag and 8 dkh in your system. I don't have sensitive corals so a bag float for 20 minutes is what I do.
