Hey everyone, so I picked up this Achilles about a week ago with a really bad case of ich, quickly dropped him into my QT with cupramine and he's doing great so far. All the ich has fallen off, much more active and is eating like a pig.

Only thing that concerns me is he has some weird lesions on his fins, head and gray discoloration on his body- im pretty sure these are side effects to the ich... But if anyone can take a look to make sure it's not an internal or external parasite/infection that I have to prep for after cupramine?

Thanks

he could be getting a bacterial infection from all the insertion points of the parasites. Now assuming he's being fed lots of nori and healthy foods with vitamin supplements you could probably wait it out some and see if he's able to battle that on his own. If it persists you'll want to treat with antibiotics like kanaplex or furan 2. I dont like combining meds because it sucks out the oxygen in the water and can sometimes cause a bacterial bloom in the water making it cloudy and even more oxygen being sucked out of the water.

Yep eating a lot of nori =), refuses to touch mysis, pellets or anything else...but im just glad he's eating something.

He will definately get a break after the copper treatment before I subject him to any more meds. Was just wondering if anything stood out in the pics that I might end up having to treat for.

Props for rescuing a sick fish and glad to hear he's eating nori, it's really hard to get achilles to start eating, he should start eating mysis soon.
Best of luck and keep us updated.

Forgot to update my own thread! His treatment went great, was eating out of my hand after the first week while in a full dose of copper. All his spots and discoloration went away, just treated with cupramine and didn't show signs of any further bacterial infection. Now he is probably one of the best looking tangs i've seen if I do say so myself :D:D
