I've just had a some new addition to my tank some corals and a red starfish wich I didn't acclimate properly now hes doesn't move and just curls his feet!
Now my main concern is the acro he was looking fine for the past 3 days which is when i got them a poor acclimation a little feed of reef roids earlier today my light runs for 8 hours its 350 par but can't test what it is in the tank thats at the top of the tank I've had the tank set up for 6 months
Ph 8.0
Amonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10
Phosphate 0.25
Alklinty 11
Calcium 460
Magniesim 1500
Salinty 1026
These are stable and don't fluctuate at all I don't really do water changes just top it of with 17l of saltwater every 2-3weeks but don't have to take any out its 215litre with a 50litre sump so it's been six months and it's stable
Does it need more flow less light please help
Purchasing other test kits this week to check copper idone iron potassium strontunium to ensure they're all right im unsure if its the light flow or acclimation and I'm checking the lights par with a silly app on a samsung fold6 so not sure how reliable my reading is my brain maze lobas goni trachy fingerplant galaxia have a couple of others they're are all thriving will get more photos tomorrow when the lights are on!

I've also just swapped my salt to slowly lower the magnisim i was using aquaone salt the mag was 1450ppm but now I'm using coralpro salt mag is 1350ppm and it has the elevated level of alk I desired so I don't have to dose alk level to keep it high the tank seems stable over the past 4 months of testing weekly??

What could be the problem i was thinking im to close to the light but it's like place med depth in the tank and flow might be moderate not high! Anyone's input would be appreciated

I'm also dosing seacheam trace and plus but im only doing it once every three weeks due to being unable to test all the elements in them!! Don't really want to over do it

Are you replacing evaporated water with saltwater, if so you'll need to rethink that.
That is exactly what jumped out to me and I was going to comment on.

Do not top off with salt water.

No sometimes it needs just rodi water other times it need a little bit of salt as I get a lot of salt loss near my sump over flow just builds up around the sides and over the back of the sump! I'm assuming my hydrometre im sure its accurate enough!

Almost Everytime I top up i need salt it appears to lose salt at the same rate as water unless ive got slow leak and haven't noticed it but I think I'm doing it rite'

Like I said everything else is doing fine so it's not that I'm sure thanks though

You should top off daily with freshwater to keep the salinity stable. Never top off with saltwater. Are you sure of the salinity at 1.026?

you should be doing regular weekly water changes, I do it on my 4 tanks even after 25 years in the hobby. Why are you not doing water changes? Whenever livestock is stressed, water changes should be the first response always.

It could be the picture angle but the water surface looks totally flat, to me this usually means low oxygen, even corals need oxygen. The water surface should be heavily agitated with enough flow to push the oxygen down to the bottom of the tank.

What test kits are you using? How often do you test? Acro's are the pickiest corals and need the most stable parameters. They also like high flow.

How do you know the par is 350 if you can't test it? Are you just using the manufacturer's information? They are usually not accurate

Also - I see in your post about chasing all kinds of micro/trace elements and thinking that's what is causing RTN. It's not and what's causing it is an unstable system with swings in your main components.

Don't get all of those testers and instead invest in a good refractometer and ATO. If you don't have your own RODI system, I would get one of those as well.

I believe the shop keeper said he had 8dkh but I did slowly put my water into a bag but I might ive rushed.

Mojo
Tested the par of light with a phone app

Aqua forest test kits plus I take water samples into my local to back up my test results wich are accurate

I'm going of the hydrometre
It's staying in the middle of the green zone it's an aquaone hydrometre

Is there something wrong with my tank cause ive always got to mix up salt when I do it or are the hydrometres in accurate

Last time I topped up with just fresh rodi it changed my hydro metre and told me to add salt so ive just been mixing to top up and it stays stable like I said I get salt build up everywhere like it doesn't want to stay in the water!

I've got the top off box and an ato but haven't been able to use it maybe I'll buy a salinty tester to be more accurate but surface agitation isn't the problem

I have rodi system and an ato ready! I'll install it to the sump and see if we have any changes but im still sure it's going to screw my salinty as it did last time I put just rodi water if the problem was my top off wouldn't all my coral be affected
